Queuing for the 3G iPhone, already?

Slashdot reports that people may aready be queuing for the 3G iPhone. Seems a little too early to me, more like a flash publicity stunt

Edit: with pictures - iPhone line forms at Apple's flagship for absolutely no reason on Engadet, too.

One word, well not even a word, more of an onomatopoeia....

For those of you, who may need to look that one up (like me):

Yip, one of my favorite words in the english language My girlfriend seems to like neologism....which according to her is what happens when you make up a word, eg "you're such a flugelshump" where flugelshump is the neologism - personally I think she's just making it all up to give her an excuse to talk gibberish

Love onomatopoeia.
Bangkok is the only onomatopoeic city in the world.
Now back on topic...
Looking forward to the iphone but I wouldn't be blindly sitting out in the coldest week this year with no certainty like a lemming.

According to Macrumors the line has dissipated and was just a standard line waiting for current model iphones. they must still be getting them in at the store at least.

buy online
it'll be the safest bet
that is... if you can be bothered waiting a day or two extra
personally, i've waited almost a year already
what could an extra day or two do to me?

FWIW a queue outside of the 5th Ave store is pretty normal anyway. Last year I queued up, and this was in the pre-Xmas shopping period. (Carollers took advantage of the captive audience).
