Google: we'll have native iPhone apps on day one

Google plans to have native iPhone applications - not just web apps - available when the App Store launches. No further explanations as to what they'll be.

Native apps hey?
I wonder what sort of native apps Google would put on the iPhone? Maps is already on there and the mail client on the iPhone already has Gmail support. Perhaps something to sync your Google Calendar wirelessly and maybe Google Docs?

GTalk client? Gmail client with threaded view? A Blogger client?

Great! Googles web apps work pretty well now but they could do a lot better.

Calendar would be the biggest one for me. To store the calendar data in cache so it's instantly accessable would be awesome.

At the moment I'd just like to be able to edit events without going to a computer.

Google search and the Gmail app. They are the standard apps on every mobile phone at the moment (we already have Google maps).

Make the Calendar App accept an RSS feed directly rather than having to go via iCal...

Ahh, yeah I was. That would be 1 step better but it still isn't overly useful if you can't make or edit events.
