Best way to copy contacts to an iPhone, without OS X or Outlook?

Hi all,

As I mentioned in an earlier thread, I'm selling my 8gb iPhone tomorrow, and buying a 16gb iPhone early next week. Trouble is, when I buy the 16gb I'll be in the US, and won't be with my Mac.

..so I'm trying to work out the best way to get my contacts onto the 16gb.

I'll have a XP laptop with Lotus Notes (ugh), but no Outlook/Outlook Express unfortunately. It has iTunes.

Not really sure if you can copy contacts to an iPhone through Windows without Outlook, so I'm a bit stuck. I can export my entire address book...but then what?

Alternatively, I guess I could SSH into the iPhone now (before I wipe it), grab *whatever file the contacts are stored in*, then upload that to the new iPhone?

Would really appreciate any thoughts.

Cheers,
- Febs.

Doesn't XP come with Outlook express, it should be on there somewhere, or do you just mean Outlook doesn't have your contacts.

It might, but it's a corporate image which has no mail client other than Scr...Notes.

Getting the contacts into another client (Outlook, etc..) wouldn't be a problem, the only problem is I don't have that software on the laptop.

Cheers,
- Febs.

See if this works: Download Outlook Express 6.0 - Outlook Express - E-mail program that is fully integrated with your OS - Softpedia

iPhones will sync with Windows address book which is standard on windows XP.

Start > All Programs > Accesssories > Address Book

You should be able to export/import your contacts into the windows address book using the standard formats such as CSV...

Thats how I do it.

Do you have your contacts on your sim card as I have used a program called Simport version 1.00 from I clarified via installer. This transfers your contacts from the sim card to the I phone

I have just downloaded a new program via Cydia called I Sim 1.5 this allows you to transfer contacts from your Sim to the phone and also in reverse transfer contacts to the sim. Down load the program on the new I phone and copy your contacts across. Cost if you wish to purchase is $12.95

Thanks mate, this sounds like the best option. I've managed to import all my contacts into XP's Address Book (a few minor import problems with "\" getting added to a few names, but nothing major), so should be smooth sailing. Cheers.

Don't suppose you have a similar solution for calendars?
