Can I get voicemail by email?

I'm looking for some way I can phone a number, leave a voicemail message, and it will send the sound file of the message to my email. Can anyone tell me of such a service? I don't mind a fee, if it's not too expensive. An alternative would be to email me a notification that there was a message, and I could retrieve it somehow.

I'm looking for a basic way of sending myself quick reminder notes when I am out & about. I always have my mobile, but I'm a terrible texter - for it to be easy, I have to be able to do it verbally. I've been recording little voice messages to myself as sound files on the phone, but the problem is then remembering to listen back to them when I am back at home/office. I check emails multiple times a day, so if the sound files were emailed back to me I'd be sure to see that they'd come in and listen to them.

Thanks in advance.

I get that with my naked DSL with iinet. If someone calls, a file is sent to my iinet e-mail.

Most VoIP services, such as PennyTel and MyNetFone offer this. People call your number, leave a message and the message it attached to an email they send to you. This is in addition to the traditional call in system and web interface.

If you're with 3, you can download your messages as audio files via email.

Thanks for the suggestions - but I'm not really looking for a replacement for my home voicemail. I don't want messages from people trying to phone me to be emailed - I'm quite fine with my current home answerphone for that. I'm just looking for a way for me (only) to be able to get messages from me (out & about) to me (arrived back home).

I guess I could just phone home and leave a message on my home phone's answering machine - but the trouble is other people are there, who might answer and I think will soon get bored with me asking them to make a note of my latest great idea for me to look at when I get home!

So I'm sort of thinking, wouldn't it be great if, when I think of something I need to do, I could whip out my mobile (which has a heap of unused call credits each month), ring 76329756 or whatever, leave a message for myself, and when I get home there is an email for me saying "you got this message" with the soundfile.

Can it be done?

If it helps, I'm using a Nokia 7300, with Vodafone.

Ta again.

How would I do it with Pennytel? Their site is down, so I can't look at their services.

I set up my 3 email on the phone and it sends a wav file through to the email address. I just log on to my email on the phone and download the attachement. Then play it in music player.

You can also set up your 3 e-mail account on your computer. That way you can archive your voice-mail messages...
