samsung are good at making phones that look pretty and mimic certain other phones, but the interface is always wanting. The 1st gen ones were horrendous, hopefully this one is better but I doubt it will match up to the iPhone. My brother has an Armani phone which is another iphone wannabe. Doesn't hold a candle to the iphone.

Remember it's not about features. Apple has never been about adding more features, just making the user experience that much better. I don't care about GPS if the phone runs like molasses and isn't easy to use.

I have about 4 phones sitting around the house. The iMate Jasjam beats the iphone hands down feature wise - 3g, sliding keyboard, IR and bluetooth, more programs, but you can guess which phone I am actually using. I feel 10x more comfortable with my iPhone than the jasjam.

oh forgot to add, it's already missing stuff:

CDMA EV-DO rather than 3G
240 x 432 screen
2GB inbuilt, max 8gb vs 16gb

don't just take my word for it:
Video: Samsung Instinct Lets You Browse Web Pages with Tilt Navigation (Plus, It's Under $300)
Sprint's Samsung Instinct First Hands On and iPhone Sizemodo (UPDATED: Now with Full Tour Video)

THere will be true compettitor maybe next year, I doubt anything this year is going to be stellar. The compettition is too busy just trying to keep up.

I'd rather get the iPhone once it's 3G. The samsung looks nice, but I don't like those keys at the bottom.

you might rather look at a HTC if you don't want an iPhone - the TyTN has mini-usb, bluetooth ADP (stereo), runs VMC, remote desktop, windows messenger and skype. also does email through outlook mobile, mobile acrobat etc.

It's interesting that Samsung would be influenced by the look of the iPhone in that way. It does say something about the influence of the iPhone.

I don't know anybody in the US so I'll wait for the 3G iPhone to be available in Australia.

For the record I think Samsung is generally a good brand (my Samsung PC monitor lasted for yonks) but I just don't see how their phone will be as desirable as the iPhone.

"Now is good" - what the f*ck is that supposed to mean...

God damn it use a slogan that actually is slightly related to your product and actually says something about it.

it still has nothing on the iphone. the only competitor iv seen was the Meizu M8. but even that is a piece of shit. prehaps that nokia iphone clone will spook apple into lowering their prices.

I just did a Google on that and I found the Meizu M8 here. It's an article comparing it to the iPhone. I don't have time to read it now but I thought people might like to check it out.

Still, a phone with Windows? Probably not for me.

when it works......

the Tytn was crap (read: jasjam, hermes, dopod 838pro)

the tytn II looks impressive.... but i still dont think it will be as good. i just got rid of my dopod 838 after just under a year.... endless amounts of trouble and half the things it COULD do.... didnt work...
