New iPhone Pwned or ZiPhone 3.0 or iLibertyX?

Is anyone planning on Pwning their iPhone? I have searched on the forum under various different permutations of pwn and iPhone, and can't seem to find any mention of it.
I still haven't received my iPhone from the U.S.A and am unsure as to whether or not to use ZiPhone, or this new program.

The iPhone: finally PWNED | The iPhone Project

Edit: iLibertyX is another program with GUI interface that is apparently superior to ZiPhone in the way that it works.

I thought I would stick with tried and true ZiPhone until someone on here tries the new method. From the video in the link it looks pretty powerful, but I guess once 2.0 comes out I may consider it.

I don't see why you'd want to go any other way when ZiPhone does it in one click, for free, trouble free, and easily?

+1 for ZiPhone

It's almost a little unnerving just how easy it is...

But what is it that ziphone does, that prevents other apps (like funtastic, iliberty etc) from seeing that the phone is already jailbroken and activated etc. I'll keep using ziphone but I am curious.

ziPhone issues

Lots of people report issues with ziphone. In addition many people claim that it uses work "lifted" from others without appropriate acknowledgement. I am really not sure why no-one is recommending iPlus2.0 or the GUI version iLiberty. iPlus works exceptionally well and there are no claims of inappropriate use of others work. I have jailbroken, unlocked, restored etc my phone since 1.1.1. From 1.1.1 to 1.1.2 and 1.1.3. I ended up doing it multiple times and in each caseit was a very long involved process. iPlus 2.0 made the shift from 1.1.3 to 1.1.4 a painless and short exercise. I couldn't recommend it highly enough.

Has anybody watched the video provided in the link above? I am an iPhone n00b, but basically as I understand it, ZiPhone uses "bugs" in the iPhone to unlock it, whereas the Pwned program puts its own firmware onto the iPhone.
Could someone with more knowledge than I, please explain to me whether they think that the Pwned method will take over from methods such as ZiPhone?

I'm in a similar situation to you leon. iPhone noob, waiting for it to arrive from the states. I've read about and watched the pwned video and this is what I get out of it:

When your iPhone arrives it will be loaded with 1.1.4. ZiPhone would patch the firmware that is on the phone. What the pwning thing does it patch something else in the phone that allows you to install custom firmware. Then you get the un-hacked firmware from apple and patch that file (before you put it on the phone). Then install the patched firmware.

I'm sure there are more advantages to it that I can see but, the only glaring advantage I can see is that people could release prehacked versions of the firmware from now on. So if apple brings out v2, one person hacks it then you can just load it up with iTunes.

But when mine arrives I'll still be using ZiPhone.

Please be very sure you've read up on ziphone before jumping in the deep end. It is the most popular method and I believe the first "one-click" solution in a gui. IMHO it is not the best option currently available now.
Make sure you understand the issues in using ziphone to downgrade your bootloader and check out the current issues that people are experiencing with wifi after using ziphone. Particularly due to the fact that zibri'z wifi "fix" assigns a permanent MAC address to your iPhone. (The same MAC address to every iPhone!)
I'm a big fan of iPlus and iLiberty looks good, tho is a bit more involved than ziphone.

Sandrust is it possible for you to simplify what the pro's and cons of each method are? Why is it bad for my bootloader to be downgraded to 3.9? Does this mean that I will not be able to go back to 4.6? I have been reading up about iLibertyX here, ILibertyX - ModMyiFone - Wiki
Does this mean that iLibertyX does not change my bootloader if I have 4.6?

I have also been looking at iPlus 2.0b and it looks more complicated for an iPhone n00b such as myself. Is iLibertyX the same as iPlus 2.0b, but just wrapped up in a different package, or are they two separate things?

Thank-you
Leon

I think I've just been doing pretty much the same reading as you leon.

Seems that the people at iPlus Pwns have issues with ZiPhone. But the only valid one I can seem to find is that they think if you downgrade to the 3.9 bootloader with ZiPhone that it isn't reversable. BUT if you use iLiberty+, It uses a fake version of 3.9 that can be reversed.

I've downloaded iLiberty+ and it seems to be just as simple as ZiPhone... I'd be interested to hear what Sandrust has to say about the pros and cons in layman terms.

Hi. I restored and then used ziphone 3.0 to unlock my 16gb last night. I bought my phone last week already unlocked and there were issues with the predictive text in SMS and Email. I don't know what program was used to unlock the phone originally, but it's all seems to be working perfectly now

What ramifications are there in downgrading your bootloader to 3.9?
