So no iPhone emulator or proper Interface Builder in the SDK of date.
That's strange...

Oh yes there is. Start a new project, select a build target of 'Cocoa Touch List'. Hit the 'Build and go' button after this. A virtual iPhone should appear.
It also recognizes my iPod Touch and offers to provision it as a dev device, but I need to read up on this to find out what it does.

iPhone SDK on PPC
Anyone had success installing the SDK on a PPC Mac?
Tried to install it on two iMac G5s. It installs XCode 3.1 (beta) but no sign of the "iPhone" components.
The "About iPhone SDK.pdf" says:
Compatibility with Mac*OS*X Versions
iPhone SDK will run on Intel-based Macs running Mac OS X v10.5.2 and later.
The "iPhone SDK download readme.pdf" says:
Known Issues
Xcode and developer tools
⁃ The Xcode IDE will crash if iTunes 7.6.1 is installed after the iPhone SDK
⁃ The iPhone SDK is designed for Intel-based Macs in 32-bit mode; many
features will not work on PPC-based Macs or in Intel 64-bit mode
⁃ Interface Builder is not yet included in this beta of the iPhone SDK
PPC users may be out of luck. Time for an upgrade.
Tony

For those that had the same issue as I did with trying to find the iPhone simulator. It is called Aspen Simulator, for some strange reason.
But thanks anyway QueenOfSwords.

I just wrote a little app to look up warranty status of a Mac (via serial number). Took me about an hour and a half from start to finish, and most of that was organizing interface elements, and memory management. Of note, the iPhone OS does not support garbage collection introduced in 10.5, so it's back to releasing objects (which I like better anyway).

I'm having a big looping problem with my login. I regitered for the Free iPhone SDK, they sent me an email with a link to download. I clicked the link, enter my Apple ID again - and it takes me to the main Dev SDK page with the link to download - and all other stuff greyed out and I'm "logged out". Ugh

@tonyk - yeah, no PPC support. They're trying to make everyone upgrade to Intel and Leopard.

I wonder if iPhone will allow multitasking of 3rd party apps. e.g. keeping AIM active in the background while checking something in Safari.

I was hoping Core Data would have made its way into the SDK. Either they ran out of time or was too big.
Anyone found any examples of how to use sqlite within Objective-C on the iPhone? Can't find any docs on the developer site.

Just out of interest - what do you want a BT client on an iPhone/iTouch for?
