Some phone manufacturers have produced phones with emulators built in.... The UTEC T680 comes with a gameboy emulator or so I am told.

What the heck? $99 per year even if you're doing free apps?? I wonder if you can install apps to your own iPhone without this license.... not too happy.

I am sure that donations can still be advertised about.
$99 covers Apple's costs to review code. It also covers a lot more like advertising, availability, bandwidth...
You can always out a new rev out later and charge for the more advanced features.

Would be nice if Mactalk can form a community thingy and have a central upload repository and publish as 1 like a company would.

I find the enterprise features announced today far more interesting that the SDK - at least in the medium term.

It would be awesome if work was using exchange, but unfortunately its a domino server for us Might have to get involved in the party to develop the VPN software to connect to our intranet, and wait / or develop an active sync like feature to the domino server.

I think there are plenty of us who would like to create apps but are turned off by the $99 per annum fee. If it was $99 one off fee then I'd understand. Oh well, we'll see how 2.0 turns out to be.

If your doing freeware then accept donations. If you have a decent app with a decent sized audience then getting $99 shouldnt be too hard.

If there's anyone who is put off by US$99, I will setup a MacTalk iFund to give developers the cash to set up an account.

right, even if you charge $1-2 - if the app is damn good, there are 20000 iphones being sold per day out there..
That's an amazingly large group of people
iAno/Pianist is the type of app that could easily take in $1, and make thousands. Same goes for good games etc.
$99 is nothing in face of the potential profits of a really well made app - and thats what we(the iphone owners) want, not junky apps!
