I had that problem, I tried it again later and it worked.
I think it's just being hammered.

On the contrary, it's a really, really important feature to businesses. The wrong person losing their PDA can seriously affect the stock price and/or cause trading halts and so on.
Next time your CFO loses his PDA he calls the helpdesk and they remotely disable/destroy it. No more risk of lost data/secrets/emails/whatever.
I find the enterprise features announced today far more interesting that the SDK - at least in the medium term.

i understand all that but what i am saying is that now the 'function exists' you are going to see people finding some way to do that to people they dont like... malware or something or a virus or something...
sure, its going to be a blessing...
and a burden
now i wanna hear about people from here (ie, .au) getting some of their grubbie little mits on some of that cash - go get em australia

I'm a little confused, so iPhone is gonna support exchange, which is cool I've been told, but isn't exchange support on macs pretty crap? I've heard people complain that mail.app and even entourage dont support exchange properly..
So can we expect that to change?

I'm pretty sure the way it works on the blackberry is that it only receives the device wipe command from the exchange server it's paired with, once it's authenticated.
So unless you hijack a 'trusted' exchange server that the iphone is paired to, it's gunna be hard to screw with.

Not necessarily, I'd say.
The iPhone is very much an independant device and is being... 'changed' to fit better in a corporate world of Exchange (thruogh ActiveSync). Mail on a Mac isn't related.
Contacts, Calendars and Mail will be synchonised. It'll also support remote wipe. I don't think we should expect anything more (and the intended market isn't demanding anything more).

Funny, an Beta SDK for free I think its to test people out, but really can an SDK be beta? makes no sense..
I got a good feeling that this SDK will only work in usermode which means that programs made will not be able to access some partitions in memory hence not being able to destroy the iPhone.
Sounds good though, cant wait for NES iPhone to be officially converted to the Apple SDK!

Do you really think they'd allow emulators though? I've heard they are legal for homebrew, but would apple allow psx/snes/nes, etc?
A full blown SDK backed PSX emulator would easily be fullspeed.

Apple cant stop developers from making emulators, developers can make an emulator work in usermode easily They have on the PSP, so they will on the iPhone.

They can stop emulators from being published on the official app store

Yes they can however emulators will be distributed elsewhere as the beta is spread to all developers, ala emulators!
