Apple's SDK site is down for me too, so I'll ask here: is it true that the SDK is only for Intel Macs? I read this someone else, but have not been able to confirm it.

If so, I'm disappointed as I was hoping to knock together a game (or at least convert a few of my existing toys) in my spare time. I may just have to step up my plans for purchasing a new Mac.

Yep, Intel and Leopard only. Info will be here when the server is no longer getting hammered

edit: no it won't, I just got in and it's not there. Waiting on my email with download link now.

They'll be shitting it if and when the iPhone starts creeping up on their worldwide domination. At the moment we're still only talking about the US/UK and some of Europe that can legitimately use these features aren't we? RIM has a pretty large user base around the world and outside of those three areas...

Apple will take it global eventually (once they remove that carrier dependence bullshit).

meh, I'll believe it when I see it. Even then they'll have a hell of a time convincing businesses to relinquish their BlackBerry's - I have a hard enough time getting my CEO to let me have his for 5 minutes. RIM have made a big name for themselves, and they've gained the trust of businesses. All the calls from me and people like me to switch from RIM to Apple may fall on deaf ears in the business world - at least until Apple proves to people like my CEO that the iPhone is going to give them something that their crackberry doesn't already.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see an enterprise takeover. I just think it'll be slow going.

You're probably right for the short-term because of invested infrastructure and mindsets, but put an iPhone and a BlackBerry side by side and it's an easy choice

Yeah, but how much stronger did Apple's position just get in their negotiations with carriers? This is actually pretty huge. If Apple get this right - and I'm willing to bet they will - it's a huge draw to offer a carrier the exclusive rights to a legitimate Blackberry killer.

Its an easy choice *now*. But wait until these Enterprise apps are in the wild. We have no idea how they will work. Anyhoo, Macs and the XServe haven't exactly taken the enterprise world by storm......

Where's MMS?

I'm looking forward to Enterprise encryption, I've got 802.1X on my wifi at home, and have to run a second AP to use my iphone that is separated from my main network.

Thanks tcn33. Actually it is there, in an incredibly small font "Technical Requirement: Intel processor-based Mac running Mac OS X Leopard."
