iPhone Price
Howdy eveyrone,
I've tried looking around for this, but cant seem to find anything,
Does anyone know what the approximate price will be for a new iPhone once they are released here? I know obviously they will have plan deals, but outright?

You won't know any prices, carriers, plans etc till an official Apple announcement - whenever that is...

When the iPhone reaches Australia it will be A$549. The iPhone is US$399 equal to the price of the 16GB iPod touch. The price of the 16GB Touch in Australia is $549. This pricing policy has been applied in the UK, France and Germany: all the markets the iPhone has entered. This of course assumes the iPhone that launches here is the current model.

Yes, unless a 16GB iPhone appers, what will be the price of that?
Thanks

Although one can not put a definitive price on it, speculatively if the 16GB iPhone retails for US$499 ($100 more than the 8GB) the price in Australia, assuming similar monetary exchange conditions, would retail for A$679. This is based on the price difference between the 8 and 16GB touches: US$100 = A$130.

I reckon they'll drop the 8, replace it with a 16 on the iPhone. Drop the 8 from the touch, move the 16 down to the 8's price and put a 32 in at the iPhone price.
The source for this info? Much like Merlin Mann, I've pulled it from my butt...

yea 32 i totally agree with you because we have nothing around this size currently. the gap from 16 to 80 has to be filled with the iphone. i cant see the nano going there yet .

Well those prices seem accurate but don't forget when they are released over here I very much doubt that Telstra will sell them outright for a reasonable price... yet sell it outright at all! Their normal phone prices outright are always insane. I am thinking that the iPhone will be a plan only phone for sure!
Well Legally anyway..

Are you saying there is going to be a 32GB iPhone or a 32GB iTouch? Because a 32GB iPhone would be sooo expensive, as would the iTouch.

Eventually there will be.
We know there is a 16GB iPod Touch, and this can easily be in an iPhone.

I can't envision a 32GB iPhone in the short term. Possibly, with the usual September/October iPod refresh, if we see a 32GB Touch we may see an iPhone of the same size. I wouldn't anticipate it happening any sooner, let alone MacWorld.

Well eventually there may be a 832GB model, too.
It's hard to believe that so many people, here, see a point to all this speculation

I don't see a point either, chrism238 (I already own an 8GB iPhone). I was just responding to a question, not putting the questions/speculations out there.
I'm just saying that we had the 4 and 8GB iPhone, and the 8 and 16GB iPod Touch. It doesn't take a genius to conclude that you'll have a 16GB iPhone (c.f. iPod Touch) and then double that again, and again... like you say, 800+ GB is possible too... eventually.
