for those considering hypercard / hypersim

Hey guys - i ordered a hypercard / hypersim the other day for my 4.6 / 1.1.2 iphone. it arrived today and i installed it straight away. i have 2 sims so i put my telstra one into one slot, and my optus into the other.

on the iphone i switched over to sim 2 and every phone i put the hypersim/card into gave me a "NO SIM" error. I was shattered as i wanted to show it off tomorrow to family and friends.

After being angry and upset i decided to take a closer look at the circuitry and found there was a manufacturing fault. I got out my multimeter and fine tipped soldering iron. If you look at the pic below - the 2 pins which i've painted red were actually soldered together.

Click the image to open in full size.

actually took a few goes with the iron to get rid of the connection. After each go i tested with the multimeter until there was no link - as soon as there wasn't a link i threw in both my sims and voila - perfect!

Hi!

Its a HyperCard

Did it come from Hyper-Card.com in Taiwan? If so you should tell Eric about the manufacturing fault.

How much did it cost, all up?

And did it fit in your iPhone without any problems? What week is your iPhone by the way?

Sorry for all the questions.

Thanks in advance for your replies.

You meant week 48 not 58 - right?

How was the fit? I mean how easily was it to insert in the SIM Tray, and how easily did the SIM Tray slip into the iPhone? And is 'ejection' of the SIM Tray still working well?

I ask because we have stayed away from importing this solution, preferring to order the HyperSIM solution from iNex.

Thanks,

Looks like a good solution. If there's no decent AnySIM/iPhoneSIMFree solution for 1.1.2 soon then I might give this a shot!

So just tell my why the TurboSIM is selling in Australia for $200 unprogrammed or $250 programmed? There is nothing to these little devices and I really don't appreciate people trying the whole "quick buck" approach?

I understand the whole concept of supply and demand - but these guys are just blatantly ripping us off for something which isn't really more than $10 in parts!

Come on guys - give us a fair deal and you'll make much more in the longer run!

You don't seem to know anything about the genuine TurboSIMs, and have perhaps confused it with the Chinese devices being sold on eBay as 'TurboSIMs".

The genuine TurboSIMs come from Bladox (www.Bladox.com) where they sell for 59 Euro plus shipping at a minimum of 30 Euro (for any quantity). It costs us a little over A$100 each to land them. The Australian retail price is A$199.95 We can't undercut the other distributor in Queensland as Bladox would get upset and may not supply us with more TurboSIM (they are obviously out of range of our Australian Fair Trade).

All TurboSIM are sealed in their package as a 'blank' TurboSIM ready to be programmed or set up. As some endusers are not capable (or think they are not) of setting up their TurboSIM with Applesaft, we offer a service to do it for them. This is the extra A$50 We do encourage endusers to program the device themselves, and offer then instructions etc.

If you feel so strongly that the TurboSIM should only cost about 5 Euro please take it up with Pavel from Bladox. If he charges us less, we can sell it for less.

I still think you meant that you had a week 48 iPhone not a week 58 !

As far as I know there are still only 52 weeks in a year.

The fourth and fifth digits in your serial number.

And I think you miss the point completely. Please justify to my why Bladox is selling these units for 59 Euro in the first place? As you stated, they are probably a $5 it to build. - well, in China anyway. I can't see them costing much more from Europe. Assuming the Euro goes for about 2 Aussie dollars, they are making a MASSIVE markup. Hence my comment on gouging.

I'm not saying you should make some money in the process - you are just trying to make a buck and I doubt many would have an issue with that.

Personally, I think Bladox is the problem here.

Just my little rant.

Because there are people who would buy it at that price, and at that price, they maximise their profits.

I did not say that they cost $5 to build (or make).

You said $10, and I converted that to 5 Euro, because Bladox charge in Euro.

I think that Bladox make them in Europe. The material used is completely different to that used on all the Chinese devices. And they use a much more expensive and bigger (size and capacity) eeprom. You have to remember that the Bladox TuroSIM is used more for security and other stuff. Not just for the simple iPhone unlock.

You also forget that Bladox has not raised their prices since the first rush on their product. It was 59 Euro before the iPhone was even introduced.

Smile Hyper Card Experience

I had a friend buy a US iPhone for me mid December 2007. OTB 1.1.2 new bootloader and all.

I got the phone activated and jailbroken via Independence 1.3.1. Great little iPod Touch ;-)

While I was waiting for a software unlock I finally decided to try the Hyper Card sim solution. I however have a sim for work and my own sim so the dual sim carrier seemed the perfect solution. I ordered one and received it yesterday. Got home and before tea I cut up the sims trimmed down a little to fit the Hyper Card dual sim carrier and the rest they say is history. Worked first time almost.

These were my issues:

1. cut down sims must fit in the carrier very well. Any overhang will increase the thickness of the resulting combination. I cut along the lines exactly with a hd pair of scissors and used an emory board (ask your wife or girlfriend) to get the fit exactly. Even when fit properly the sim carrier is a snug fit in the iphone. I can still get the sim carrier out without any difficulty.

2. it takes a minuite or two to register. That seems like the longest time interval while you are waiting

3. when the phone registered I then tried to dial my home number but the keyboard locked up after typing the first character. I could however dial out using the phonebook. Puzzling but there were other instances of this happening on the net and the recommended approach was to install iWorld to fix the problem. I did, it did

Now to the current problem at hand:

1 I can insert the sim carrier and it will detect a sim. The sim application (Settings -> phone -> Sim Application) reports that sim-1 or sim-2 is active (it can vary). Whichever sim is active I cannot select the other sim. It just comes back with No SIM message.

2. If I use the 11* or 22* keyboard approach in an attempt to switch to the alternate sim the sim application disappears (Settings -> phone -> Sim Application).

3. I have cleaned contacts, inspected the ic leads and all seem ok.

4. In all the activity the one side of the slide on metal shield has separated from the main body due to metal fatigue.

I've e-mailed Eric twice with info on my testing but it looks like I've done my dough on this one!
