I had a friend buy a US iPhone for me mid December 2007. OTB 1.1.2 new bootloader and all.
I got the phone activated and jailbroken via Independence 1.3.1. Great little iPod Touch ;-)
While I was waiting for a software unlock I finally decided to try the Hyper Card sim solution. I however have a sim for work and my own sim so the dual sim carrier seemed the perfect solution. I ordered one and received it yesterday. Got home and before tea I cut up the sims trimmed down a little to fit the Hyper Card dual sim carrier and the rest they say is history. Worked first time almost.
These were my issues:
1. cut down sims must fit in the carrier very well. Any overhang will increase the thickness of the resulting combination. I cut along the lines exactly with a hd pair of scissors and used an emory board (ask your wife or girlfriend) to get the fit exactly. Even when fit properly the sim carrier is a snug fit in the iphone. I can still get the sim carrier out without any difficulty.
2. it takes a minuite or two to register. That seems like the longest time interval while you are waiting
3. when the phone registered I then tried to dial my home number but the keyboard locked up after typing the first character. I could however dial out using the phonebook. Puzzling but there were other instances of this happening on the net and the recommended approach was to install iWorld to fix the problem. I did, it did
Now to the current problem at hand:
1 I can insert the sim carrier and it will detect a sim. The sim application (Settings -> phone -> Sim Application) reports that sim-1 or sim-2 is active (it can vary). Whichever sim is active I cannot select the other sim. It just comes back with No SIM message.
2. If I use the 11* or 22* keyboard approach in an attempt to switch to the alternate sim the sim application disappears (Settings -> phone -> Sim Application).
3. I have cleaned contacts, inspected the ic leads and all seem ok.
4. In all the activity the one side of the slide on metal shield has separated from the main body due to metal fatigue.
I've e-mailed Eric twice with info on my testing but it looks like I've done my dough on this one!
