[IPHONE] Did I Pay Too Much?
Hi All,
The temptation has gotten to me, spending the little money I have just for the sake of having something new... im sure some of you would know the feeling.
I recently was offered by a mate heading to the states to get a iphone for me and after much thought knew it wasn't worth it at this point due to it not being unlockable ofcourse.
Anyways on ebay I saw a listing which was for the iphone basically new, made a offer of $415USD which came to about $470AUD plus shipping which got me to about $515 in total from the states. The thing is that the phone doesnt come with the accessories hence the price but it was on firmware 1.0.2 so my question is... Did I pay too much?
Thanks,

From what I've seen the last week on eBay, anything under $800AU is a great price for a new, unlocked, fully operation iPhone, (supposedly) shipped from within Australia.
If anyone thinks I'm off the money here, let me know about it.
The iPhone you got from the USA sounds like a good price so far, just beware you may get stung with a long wait or a big bill from customs.

The cheapest I've seen - not on eBay, but on OCAU seems to be $650 unlocked, so you got a bloody good price

Thanks guys, just gotta try and score some accessories which i can get cheap from dealextreme. Although the apple store online (US site) has the iphone stock accessories for $49USD damn.. we dont have that pack on our online store. (for obvious reasons)
@vargz: Hmm if its just the phone and the guy himself said he'll note it as a gift would customs have any reason to hold it back. I dont know if im right in sayin this but is tax only applied to items over the 1k mark. Im not sure.

Yeh its amazing from what retails at $399USD could leap up to.
It's a shame that it takes a fair while to get released in Australia. There are most probably good reasons why but for most of us we can't help it but fork out for something new.
Do you all think that when the iphone hits Australia it'll be around every corner, just like the ipod? I know it's a big generalisation but i must say the ipod is pretty much everywhere.

Yeh the reason why i posted wasn't to brag or anything, so dont get me wrong with the low price... i just took into account that it wasnt NEW but in new condition and also it didnt have accessories which could add up if i decide to get the genuine stuff.

At least there's tools around to unlock it... not so for the current new iPhones.

Mine cost 630 US - then 50 US shipping, about 800 AUS - you got yours dirt cheap imo - But i don't regret it, the iphone is the most amazing device you could ever purchase.

So is eBay the only place to get iPhones?
Which websites/stores both local and abroad are reliable resellers of unlocked, loaded iPhones?
