network selection

ok very very strange things are happening on the iphone today. im with vodafone pre paid, and for some reason this morning and some times last nite, there seems to be no reception on my phone. now this morning for the first time since i got it i have received the message,
"network lost, your selected network is no longer available. you can choose a new network in the phone settings"
i go into phone settings and hit vodafone. ok great but then little to no reception. i try to send a message and again that reminder from above. now this time i hit settings and look for vodafone and all i get is telstra or optus? what is going on, could it be the 3rd party apps playing up? i have rebooted and again get the same thing, im on 1.1.2 btw

ok got a bit of an update. basically i cant get no reception, well good one, at home. i can when driving in car or moving, but at home i get the above message to change network settings. also this just happend the little square that was at the area of the wifi signal is now gone, and only the wifi signal logo appears when on, but when off no edge square box thingy is there its now completely gone? i have no idea whats going on, is my phone bricking on me? what do i do about the network settings and why is it doing this.

That's because your out of range / reception. Happens when i go deep indoors as well (aka in shops/stores)

It'll reconnect when it gets signal back, just ignore it, i guess.

Does it work fine if you go outside?

another update, the little edge square, where E would be is back now.

keving, yes it does go good when i go outside, in fact during the drive was perfect reception, to my gf house was great. thing is i have never received this message ever since i got my iphone on 1.1.1 or 1.1.2 until this morning? even at home i got good reception but now it is pretty much none and i get the error network selection.

My biggest problem is sometimes when i get the msg i go into network settings to manually choose the carrier however every now and then i cannot select vodafone as its not there, only telstra/optus are?

I can only guess it's not able to get reception. I get the same issues, as i said, inside the place where i work if i go "deep" indoors- near the door it works fine.

It should automatically reset the network to vodafone once it picks it up, mine does.
