iPhone disk space

I am getting messages every time i install something new, or add some music, that I am running out of disk space and to get rid of some videos or photographs (i dont have any videos on board at the moment).

iTunes reports over 4G free.

Any ideas, anybody?

The iPhone, like the iPod touch, has two partitions. One for the OS and one for Music/Video/Photo's. The OS partition is only about 300meg big, the more apps and stuff you add to it, the more space you use up. You're getting that message because the OS partition is running out of space.

... and if this is happening to you because you're installing lots of 3rd party apps, here's the solution

Thanks for this, I've uninstalled a bunch of apps I wasn't using so all is well for the moment.

Are you able to run me through a step by step of how to do this. I can SSH into my phone. The part I'm unsure of is this part "At this time this is a command-line only operation, however, if you have ssh installed on your system and connect from your computer, just issue the following command: ~/bin/xwidg. The utility looks for an existing symbolic link. If it finds one it removes it, if it does not it creates it. So running xwidg repeatedly just toggles the connection on and off. After each update, it restarts SpringBoard so it reflects the updated link."

Where do i have to enter this command :" ~/bin/xwidg". In the terminal?
