Ever tried calling Vodafone?

Hi chaps,

I've been trying to call Vodafone for the past hour. I can't get through*. Is this normal or am I just unlucky?

All I hear is "Lara" saying "HAI! Welcome to Vodafone!" followed by some menu prompts that don't work. Eventually when i get through the system to an operator I either get a "oops. we're having technical difficulties" *hangup* or a "we're really busy. call back later." *hang up*

Is it just me?

* I have gotten through to their indian help desk, who couldn't understand what I was talking about.

I don't call them regularly, but I've never had any major difficulties. I've actually been relatively impressed by their service in the past - that being said I haven't paid for a bill for the last 10 months because I'm in credit for a major stuff-up of theirs.

I got further by doing the sales trick. (You ask for the sales department instead of support, where there's usually more phone monkeys)

I was on hold for twenty minutes listening to some god awful music, and it went through to the 'almost there' ringing sound... then it hung up on me. again.

The inquiry is about my bill... I can't even access it online. It downloads but comes out as a blank excel spreadsheet.

Virgin is about to get a new customer... as soon as i can get through to vodafone.

edit: called again at 7:30pm - got a message saying "We're closed now." *hang up*

I tried calling a few times this morning. Couldn't get through again.

So I popped into a retail store, knowing full well that they couldn't help me with my bill, but might be able to suggest a new plan with data to go on... they couldn't.

So I went to another store, and am now a Virgin Mobile customer.

All Vodafone had to do was answer the phone. Really.

Vodafone has been fine for me, but you just need to know when to call. I generally ask for an Australian based Manager, as it is easier for them to understand me (and vice versa), especially as they are more likely to be on your side, compared to the Script Reading Indians.
