AT&T Chief confirms 3G iPhone for next year

According to this article http://www.appleinsider.com/articles...n_the_way.html a 3g Iphone will arrive next year and has been confirmed by the AT&T chief.

Of course the question is will that be before or after the Australian launch.

I dont think that it is such a mystery...
to release the phone in asia err Japan it will have to be 3G... unlike Europe Aust or the rest of the world...
Japan in practically (for all intents and purposes) 3G only....

and 2008 has always been the target for Asia and the iPhone.

Im thinking 2nd half....

I think the europe thing... comes down to several things
a) they were expecting 3G.. they didn't get it.
b) poor reviews (esp on 02 in the UK)
c) outrageously expensive...
d) european telcos arent nearly as shitty as american ones and so the jesus phone has less effect.
e) the iPhone has been out for some time now.. and that first wonder moment has gone...

the 3G version should create a bit more of a stir.

That's good to hear. Looks like I'll hold off buying me an iPhone and wait until the 3G one comes out. I just hope is closer to the beginning of 2008 and not more towards the end of the year.
