How to get new ringtones on iphone?

Hey all im having alittle trouble in trying to create ringtones for my iphone i have followed these 2 following guides :

http://www.rogueamoeba.com/utm/posts...07-09-10-12-00

http://www.hacktheiphone.com/112/iph...tones_mac.html

I am not getting very far, the simply dont register on my iphone. My phone is 1.1.1 with itunes 7.5.

Anyone got other methods, or who are making them succesfully with the above guides ?

i've been using mobile17.
i heard about it from The Totally Rad Show. You up load the song you want and it sends the tone o your email. save it and put it in itunes and your done!
only down side is you have to wait about 30min + for this to happen

There is an option to delete the stored ringtones in iToner. You need to have it plugged and sync'd first I think

Anything for Windows Vista?

I have a Macbook Pro but I decided to sync my iPhone to my Windows PC coz I have all my new music and videos on there as it has the bigger hard drive and is connected via ethernet so I get better speeds.

So if at all possible I would rather not have to resync my iPhone with my MBP.

I may give mobile17 a shot though, cheers.

EDIT:

Mobile17 didn't work for me, but this did!

YouTube - Free Iphone Ringtones on Itunes 7.6 and VISTA

Very easy and works with 7.7 too! Smart kid!

for all you mac users out there, you can actually use garage band to make ringtones for your iphone. all you do is import a song, and then select 40 seconds worth of it (maximum time for a ringtone) and then click Share>Send ringtone to iTunes

Hm so I'm doing the cut to less than 40 seconds, convert to aac, rename to m4r and put into ringtones which seems to work fine. Is there a limit to the number of ringtones you can have?

Also some of the one's i've created just won't appear on the iphone, but still show fine in itunes under ringtones. for instance i did one that is 10 seconds long and that worked fine. but another that is 17 just doesn't show up there. They are same bit rate etc etc. Anyone have any ideas about that?

The process outlined in that video works on the Mac as well.

You can do it the same as the kid does... or if you have audio editing software, you can take an unprotected music file, trim it to 30 seconds (you can probably leave it full length as well) and put a fade out... save it as a new file name, then import it into iTune, convert to AAC, view the song in Finder and rename the file extension to .m4r. Then double click the file and it will appear in iTunes as a ringtone you can sync to your iPhone.

When you open up garageband, and have the song edited to the length (I thought it was supposed to be only 30 secs) click on the share in the top toolbar, and you'll see a few options, one of which is 'Send Ringtone to iTunes', click on that and follow it's prompts. It will open up and play the tone. It's wise to rename it, otherwise it's possible to overwrite it.

I made a tone out of an acoustic version of 'my guitar gently weeps, sung by the beatles.

iRinger works fine for me. When I delete a ringtone from iTune then resync my iPhone the deleted ringtone disappears.

Hey guys,
I can't seem to convert any tracks (even those that I have recorded myself) to AAC format, it isn't an option in the advanced drop down menu or when I control click on a track.
I'm using version 7.7, what am I doing wrong?

Edit- It's OK I've worked it out.
