Thanks for that Ricochet.

I'm just at work but I'll try that version of Appsupport when I get home.

Here's hoping it works.

Argh..

It didn't work.

I replaced my Appsupport with your one and I removed the +614** number format from some of my contacts, went into my SMS's, and they now show +614*** again instead of the name.

My region format is set to Australia. What else could it be?

Could it have anything to do with the UI Phone Formats file?

Well, I have an ibrick at the moment. got all the way to installing oktoprep and then for some reason the update did not occur and i got an error. a reboot gave me the itunes/cable icon and ive been trying to restore down ever since and failing. last desperate attempt i am currently allowing itunes to download and restore my phone to 1.1.2. I'll start over if it works/ otherwise.... ho hum, a weekend of futzing about.

[edit] cannot restore to any firmware. any ideas, anyone? I'll also hit hackintosh and modtheifone.

@kyte; Restoring to 1.1.2, then forcing DFU mode (by holding home and sleep/power, then releasing sleep/power when the screen goes black) and restoring to 1.0.2, all in iTunes, should get you up and running. You will need to use iNdependence or iPhuc to bump the phone out of Restore mode at the 1.0.2 level.

You must have posted just after i did, and ive gone straight to an edit. not looking good.

[edit2] tried the force to DFU and for some godforsaken reason i am now back in 1.1.1, i have the 1.1.2 baseband, and installer available (havent checked which one, but i am assuming the apptapp version as i had got that far. its activated and jailbreaked. ive done nothing more than i described,,, but anyway... I'll try oktoprep again

Yes, you should try adding additional strings to the au section of the file. There's a link here...

You're at 1.1.1, jailbroken and activated, with 1.1.2 firmware (unlocked?) and you want to go to 1.1.2, right?

See above, done, and dusted thanks to the force to DFU

Hey again. I've replaced my UI Formats file with that one and it still doesn't work. All it does is update the way the +61 number in the SMS list looks.

Ah well. I guess I'll just save my numbers in the +61 format.

I don't think I'm up for restoring and trying again. Although, what would the process be if I wanted to over the weekend?

Restore to 1.1.1, Oktoprep, then update to 1.1.2? I wouldn't need to unlock anything again, right?

I needed to modify AppSupport to get caller ID matching working properly in 1.1.2.

Yeh. I've already used a modified AppSupport version. It matches up incoming phone calls correctly, but not my SMSs, which is really strange. :/

Strange. I suspect you're using a funked version of AppSupport.

Try a different version of AppSupport, or modify it yourself. This link will start you off.

A question... how different is the storage of numbers etc to 1.1.1? Are the localisation files in a different place? I'm just wondering if Gussy's fix which worked really well on 1.1.1 would be useable for 1.1.2, hey, here's an idea... I'll ask him (d'uh moment)
