IT WORKS!
I am on 1.1.1 and for some reason, it works again! The last time I tried it (immediately after unlocking 1.1.1 upgraded from 1.0.2), it came through as a scrambled message with a message that didn't work/bad timestamp. Now it comes through EXACTLY as intended, with correct NetCode, from NetBank!
Excellent! (1.1.1 unlocked with anySIM).

Same as you. I can get NetCode SMS from CBA but I still don't get voicemail notifications.

There are a couple of steps that you can omit though and bypass the 1.1.1 flashing if you can manage to install the OktoPrep in 1.0.2. I was stuck in that step for a very long time as the iPhone would lock in recovery mode and I didn't try to flash it twice as you did. So, what I did was to install the Installer.app for 1.0.2, then the OktoPrep and from there directly UPGRADE (NOT RESTORE as you mention) to 1.1.2. I can confirm this works 100% for me. To simplify the whole process a bit, STEPS 7 and 8 can be bypassed as long as you can install the OktoPrep in 1.0.2. I haven't found an easier way to install the OktoPrep other than the installer so this can also be simplified even more if anyone has more info about this.

Cool.
Thanks for adding this extra info.
P.S. it might be a good idea to split the NetCode in 1.1.1 stuff into a different thread...

I had that problem before, from NetBank (which came through as "NetBan") - with an incorrect timestamp (sometime in the future!) and gibberish message.
It was progress from 1.0.2 though, when I received nothing at all.
Edit
Oops sorry I just posted the NetCode stuff here, since it was assumed 1.1.2 fixed it, however it also works in 1.1.1. (which would've been more appropriate... sorry!)

And here is some more info to make things even simpler and avoid the Installer and OktoPrep preparation when still in 1.0.2.
You actually don't even have to install OktoPrep or the Installer at all. All you have to do is simply copy the mknod (if you don't already have the BSD subsystem installed) to your iPhone's "/sbin" directory (making sure it has execute permissions) and then run:
mknod /var/root/Media/disk c 14 1
chmod 666 /var/root/Media/disk
This is actually what the OktoPrep does and it can save you further time.
Credits go to the Elite team of course, among a few others

I'd be curious to know, from those who have been through the process and now have an activated unlocked 1.1.2...
Is there a relationship between how far you have to downgrade, and what firmware your phone came with, originally?
Seems to me that some are having success at 1.1.1 but others have to go back to 1.0.2... at this time as I become more tempted to do the thing, I'm thinking because my phone was originally 1.0.2 it would be wise to downgrade all the way, before re-upgrading.

I was on 1.1.1 (IPSF) and did not need to downgrade, just run OkToPrep. Then 4 or 5 steps after that and I had 1.1.2 running. My phone came with 1.01 on it.
It's well worth it -- voicemail notifications for me is a HUGE improvement. Also, the phone is slightly snappier due to the clock rate being bumped up. And I could be mistaken, but battery life also seems a lot better -- I read somewhere that optimisations to WiFi are to thank for this.

The only probable relationship is on how your GSM modem was unlocked (anySIM/IPFS).
Depends, those that had success with 1.1.1 were probably using IPFS. I have always used anySIM to patch the modem's firmware on a locked, never activated, US iPhone. IPFS does not patch the firmware (it modifies the seczone) and therefor it may be probably safer, for now, between up/downgrades(*). When I tried to patch a 4.2.13G (1.1.2) modem firmware running on a 1.1.1 iPhone, I ended up with a corrupted GSM modem. However, when I did the same thing running from a 1.0.2 iPhone, it worked perfectly OK and kept on working all the time between different firmwares (1.0.2, 1.1.1 and 1.1.2 of course).
* Firmware upgrades/downgrades, should never touch the seczone and that is why IPFS might be safer than anySIM between future upgrades and downgrades for now, I guess.
What may also relate is the bootloader. Newer iPhones, US and EU come with a newer bootloader but its unclear yet to me on how far you can downgrade them or what impact this may have on the whole process.
In any case, this is what I have:
# ./bbupdater -v
Resetting target...
pinging the baseband...
issuing +xgendata...
firmware: DEV_ICE_MODEM_04.02.13_G
eep version: EEP_VERSION:208
eep revision: EEP_REVISION:1
bootloader: BOOTLOADER_VERSION:3.9_M3S2
Done

My iphone still refuses to recognise sms messages from people in my phone book because they are in international format under 1.1.2 after doing all this.
Do I need to put them in as both formats in my phone book?

I actually did this, as one of the many things I tried to get from 1.0.2 to 1.1.2. Didn't work for me, but as lefteris says it should do the same as OktoPrep.
Re: bootloader. The old version of the bootloader is 3.9. It will let you flash any higher version of modem firmware, but in order to downgrade firmware you have to use geohot's iEraser, effectively erasing the firmware to allow flashing of an earlier version.
The new bootlaoder is 4.1, which comes with all 1.1.2 phones out of the box (with a few exceptions.) Not much is know about it yet, except that it will not allow the erase to happen, therefore you are stuck with 04.02.13_G at the moment. Nor will it allow the various unlock methods to exploit the flaws that allowed unlocks in the 3.9 bootloader.

Good question. The iPhone I bought was an early 1.0.2 phone, and it required me to go all the way down to 1.0.2, although as evidence it is circumstantial.

I haven't witnessed this yet, but will test it out with various AppSupport modifcations. Which version of AppSupport did you use?

I use international format as well and it works pretty good so far. You most likely have to go over STEP 11 again.

Hey guys.
I've used all the files in here and Edge works and nothing crashes etc but I'm having a problem with the caller ID matching.
I have numbers stored as 04********. When I get a call the phone displays the name correctly.
When I get an SMS, however, it displays +614******* instead of the name. Also in my SMSs, it lists them by +614*** instead of their name. If I want the name to show up in SMSs I need to add +614*** format in their contact.
Anyone have any idea why it's doing that? :S So basically it matches when someone calls, but not when I get an SMS. :/

Basically, you need to go over STEP 11 again and modify the AppSupport file for the country you live in correctly. There shouldn't be any need at all for dual entries in your phone book.
All problems with phone matching and recognition have to do with this. This can really be a pain in some countries and some providers, from what I read, as they use international formats for SMSs and national for calls besides the extra national code dependencies.

Thats pretty odd... I have tried this twice the past couple of days and it worked both times here.

I uploaded my working AppSupport file for Australia here which will match on all international versions of numbers as well as local ones with/without area codes. I made it the other day using the excellent tool that tim created on hackint0sh to extract the country table and alter it:
http://www.sendspace.com/file/p6sdyj
Also, make sure you've set your country to 'Australia' under the International options in the General settings of the 1.1.2 phone.
