Sending SMS's to multiple contacts on an iPhone?

Is it not possible? I cant seem to see how on my iPhone Am I missing something?

It's not possible, one of the complaints about the iPhone's messaging, my biggest one is no SMS character length indicator

wow thats ridiculous, its something i would think all phones would have. couldn't they fix that problem with firmware?

That seems like a pretty big limitation, both of them.

I'm assuming you can send emails to multiple people? Maybe that's what they were assuming people would do instead?

MobileMail is tokenised for the To and CC fields, just like Mail in Mac OS X. The To field in the SMS client looks tokenised too, so you'd I assume they'll add it in one of the next updates.

It might make the threaded chat a bit of an issue, but I'm sure they'll figure something out (it could just add the message to multiple threads).

I'm sure thats exactly what they had in mind when they created it... that SMS would replace chat in some way. Otherwise, why is there no ichat? Remember sms costs $$ and apple get a cut from the monthly fee. Perhaps there was a deal with AT&T to semi-force people to use SMS more than they might otherwise if they had access to ichat.

I'm merely surmising, of course.
