3 Mobile any good?
Well as some of you might know I have been looking at new handsets and to go on Telstra. I am also considered moving the handsets to Optus until I found this:
http://www.three.com.au/cs/ContentSe...86581479&Nav=0
From what I can see 3 look to be very cheap for Phone (and data on the limited network) and I think they could be the best value voice plan I can see for my situation.
What I would like to know is what others think of 3 as a carrier?
I have heard terrible things in the past about them but this was about 4 yrs ago before they teamed up With Telstra for infrastructure.
I am looking at around the $80 month plans in either CAP or Plan base.
Cheers...

Go back all ye- who enter.
The worst, worst customer service I have ever experienced in any industry.
I would rather use smoke signals than touch 3 again.
Over 4 calls to cancel my plan. Stupidly inane.

they are pretty decent
iv been with them for over a year now and have not had a problem
If you have problems, the call centre is Indian but they are the easiest to under stand Indians iv ever spoken to - also they give credits out very easily if you have a problem

jeez I've been on vodafone and they were beyond terrible. 3 have been great and my phone bill is really cost effective. Everyone has different experience with all the phone companies but by far these guys have been really good with me. Now my whole family is with them and boy does that make calling them cheap... I mean free!

I've been with 3 for over 3 1/2 years now and they are excellent.... customer service isn't the best I have to admit, but they got tons of stuff like Skype, MSN, Cheap Mobile Broadband and all that stuff and their plans are good value too. (:

As for my 2c on Three? a bit complex at first since I bought my phone from a dodgy reseller..but since I bought my phone from a store it's been great! wont buy a motorola phone again however :P
I'd rather stick with them as long as I can (been a customer since early 2005) but if the 3G/HSDPA iPhone wont come out, then I'll have to go with whoever that'll have the regular iPhone..then go back to three :P but yeah, skypephone! what a f**king awesome idea!!

I have been on 3 since it launched back in April of 03. Some people haven't seen the worst of this company. From faulty handsets with poor battery life, bulky handsets, call connection issues and the horrible mumbai customer service centre, they have really turned their game around in the past 2 years. The handsets are better, overall call quality and connection rates are better, and dare i say it, there customer service is getting there. In saying all that, my last two 3 phones have been faulty and 3 still refuse to do anything about it, even after having the firmware flashed and set to repair centres, but thats my issue. I am picking up a 3 Skypephone as soon as they hit stores.
In saying that, I have lost my connection within Three now, and I was wondering if anyone here knows when these 3 Skpyephones are been released at a retail level? I know they came out today online and through eBay, but since I haven't been at a retail store, i was wondering if they have hit there yet?
For the record. 3 are alright.. better then most, but not as good as some, if i could be any more obvious then that!

Agree.
Having said that I was with them since week one, and the first year was horrible, but cheap. When we had problems with our handsets, they just kept sending us new ones and didnt charge for them (upgraded models, not the same ones).
Then it all got better.
Their call centre is next to useless though. Just aweful.
I have just switched to Virgin due to iPhone in any case. If it wasn't for that I would have stayed. Three's data plans and speeds are great. I am hating GPRS for email/mobile browsing.

I'm with ya on that
In regards to 3, their prices seem quite reasonable, and the coverage is now supposedly way better than it used to be. Just call customer service only in emergencies

Thanks for the replys guys.
I am in 2 minds with regards to moving to them. They seem to have some good cheap plans and then some seem average (Due to the cost of the hand set as well) but the biggest issue for me is the unknown.
I know all telecoms can be rubbish and the best experience I use to have (Internet, Mobiles and Land lines) was with Optus, but of late they have gone down hill I feel. I hate Telstra and the only reason I am with them is a carry over from when I use to have a work phone assigned to me that was on Telstra.
To be honest I can't fault the cost of my Telstra bills to the extent I never go over the groupe saver we have with Telstra, but I am looking at moving only 1-2 handsets across for now as the 3rd has some time left under the contract. Thing I really hate about Telstra is the terrible handset's they have on offer (3rd world imo) and that I hate the arrogance of the company as whole. And a funny part of me like's to support others to prevent a monopolization of 1 company (as we seem to have with the likes of Woolworths and Bunnings).
Anyway I it is good to know that there call centers may be a little below average (could not be worst then TPG internet now that is bad service, with rude employees). It seems so far most seem to think they are good value and reliable except that when it goes wrong prepare to put up with a 2nd class call center for support (but with Telstra or Optus i have never really needed to call the support centers anyway).
