I have tried just restoring - via Itunes but it keeps failing.

I thought upgrade to 1.1.2 and now it wont let me do anything via itunes.

Any ideas???

Firstly, why did you want to upgrade, as they havn't unlocked 1.1.2 yet

Secondly, always calm down, and don't rush anything

Thirdly, What does it say (now when you try to restore and before that)

Give us a rundown of what you did, using what instructions etc... and where things started to go pear shaped

Ok Basically,

I have got to a point where 1.1.2 is installed and Itunes is 7.5 and it says that the SIM Card is not valid (its a vodafone card) and I dont even have an option to restore - where I could use the shift key and choose my saved copy of the software.

I tried in Itunes 7.43 and it kept failing when i tried to do it - i tried to 1.12 and now wont let me try anything...

I dont have a MAC only a PC.

How is all that sound?

Err, the modem firmware is unlocked, jailbreak is possible and so too is activation. But it's not quite ready for prime time yet.

@berinsoncrusoe

There are guides literally everywhere to do this. Manually force the phone into DFU mode which will then allow you to use an earlier version of iTunes to Restore an earlier version of the firmware. You will receive an error. The next step I'm not sure on a PC...

I suggest you do some reading at Hackint0sh

Can you maybe help - with the problem - and also with how to get into www.hackint0sh.org

Please help - I am getting desperate.

ALSO - please note - I am using a PC - not a MAC - so when people suggest MAC based apps... I cant use them....

Thanks

Ok guys - I have been able to reload the software for 1.1.1 - but it errors at the end with a 1015 Error.

Then it doesnt seem to complete. Any ideas??

I haven't tried any of this. According to the guides, the 1015 error is normal, and it effectively has completed but stays in restore mode. All the things I've read say to use iNdependence 1.2.5 to wake it up out of restore mode so you can re-jailbreak using the *#307#, but since you don't have access to a MAC to run that I'm not sure in your case.

I don't know exactly what operation iNdependence performs to exit DFU mode, I daresay it's probably something you could do with iPHUC if you had the know-how so you could try googling around for that.

Use the AppTapp installer after the 1015 error, the try the jailbreakme.com exploit. Or you might like to downgrade to 1.0.2, use AppTapp installer and upgrade from there.

Folks,

Finally sorted it - thank god for the modmyifone site.

This will help with resetting your baseband back to allow the install of 1.0.2 and then upto 1.1.1
