Best way to unlock iPhone?
Hey guys,
I am getting a new iphone tomorrow
now, i have read a lot of reports an forum topics on how to activate/unlock the iphone and am totally confused

what is the best way to unlock the iphone? independence/anysim? or jailbreakme?
i read the warning from W9cae about independence being broken by itunes 7.5!! what do i do?

please advise!

dont update to itunes 7.5 and you wont have any issues

then you can use jailbreak and all will be well

Best way is to avoid the hype and get an iPod touch and use your regular phone... /shrug

Amzy follow my thread with the method using jailbreakme.com. It works better than anything prior. All tests indicate anySIM 1.1 & the appsnapp do not mess the phone up. And your next firmware upgrade should go fine. Once the tools are avail.

I did read that thread and will attempt to do that. Just a question thought...may sound stupid! Will the jailbreakme method suggested by you, let me aussiefy my iphoe with the number format etc and will i get ssh access to the device?

Amzy my best advice after you activate & unlock your phone leave it alone. Do not run the customize apps & change any formats. These items are now proving to mess phones up. The least alteration to the FW the better for future updates. Once the SDK is avail and folks in the know can build apps according to procedure. Be happy with an iPhone that works in stock mode on any carrier.

You will also read in that thread you will have to possibly install the EDGE fix as after unlock with anySIM 1.1 the phone does not save the settings.

EDGE settings being lost won't bother those who don't use it. (like me)

I second the advice of W9cae about leaving well enough alone. The more you mess around with it, the more damage that could be done - once you activate/jailbreak/unlock it, you have a working phone.

I have fixed some minor things, but once I've done that, I don't install/mess around with anything else.
