I don't know. I've tried connecting to my NetComm wireless network and my Airport (just to have two different networks to try and connect to).

The other iPhone I unjailed and activated exactly the same way connects to any network that's in it's vicinity (including both the netcomm one and the airport)...

I did that too... lol...

The main problem is, if I delete all the settings on the phone, then have the phone look for available networks, it finds the ones around every time. I put in the password and it connects, every time, then if I press the little blue arrow next to the network to get to the IP page etc.. it dies... if I leave it for 10 seconds, it dies... it's just defying sensible logic..

Bugger

I think I might have been on the wrong track with that program before as well...I think it might have been how to mount the iPhone on the desktop, but with wireless

I am about out of ideas! Perhaps the forums on hackin0sh or modmyifone might be a good idea

If anyone has a brain wave.. let me know ASAP... I'm getting desperate here...

Good idea nbetts.

Seems you've tried mostly everything on the iphone side Rasta. Try giving the wireless network a restart..

I should have added that I thought it might have been the wireless connection (even though the other iPhone works perfectly anywhere on my block of land), but I've got a NetComm NB5Plus4W and when I had problems connecting to WiFi with that, I disabled the wireless then set up a wireless network with my Airport, same issues arose.

I get full strength (4 bars) anywhere in the house, and 2-3 bars outside, but still doesn't work anywhere...

The network always shows up, but won't hold a connection. I can't even look at the wireless settings because it disappears off the 'WiFi connections' screen (despite the fact that the wireless icon stays in at the top of the screen)...
I had the same issue for a while. Have you installed any additional software or tweaks? Reason I am asking is that I had installed Gussy's Australianising thingy which also replaced the E with a G. Its the only thing that had changed since previously having successful connections. An uninstall of that fixed the issue and I reverted to the edited ABPhonelist I had before, and no longer care that I have an E

On this phone, I've managed to get it to the point of getting anysim on it once, then it froze and I had to reset it and start over. Since then... nada.. can't get it to connect to the network...

So the answer to your question is, yes, anySim once, and then reset and nothing since...

Damn. I'm sorry, rasta, it sounds like a problem that may not be fixable.... i wonder if there is something corrupted and if a revirginise/restore would help.

I am NOT suggesting you rush away and do this, I've had my own share of woes and have sought the assistance of those more expert than the usual, on this forum.

I would suggest though that you do as I did at the recommendation of many, and start reading extensively on hacktheiphone, hackint0sh, modmyifone etc. You may find (as I did) someone with exactly your situation who found a solution.

Best of luck, let us know what you find. And, DON'T GIVE UP!

I wonder Rasta, if there's a way to set up a USB port as a COM port on a PC, and network it that way.

Another thought, have you tried to force it into DFU mode and use iTunes to reupdate the software to 1.1.1?

Now that I don't think I've done (I've done a fair few things so not 100% sure I haven't)! I'll have a crack at that tomorrow and report back... thanks Edge....

have you tried 'forget the network'? and reconnecting...

also, try resetting network settings, and toggle airport mode off and on...(found in other forums)

also saw this to reset wifi..

Install the iPhone installer.
Use the newly installed Installer.app to install “Term-vt100″.
(OPTIONAL: Install the BSD subsystem and OpenSSH while you’re there).
Run “Term-vt100″ from the main iPhone ‘Springboard’ screen. Input this line and hit return:

rm ~/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.wifi.plist

Restart your iPhone by holding down the top button. After it reboots, it will have forgetten about all your wireless networks, including the annoying stuck Linksys one.

this will remove the possibly corrupt plist and reinstall a fresh once when phone restarts

good luck

I had a go at this and it hasn't changed things. Still can't seem to get the wifi to stay connected to a network (and I've re-set up the networks themselves too)...

Hi, thanks for the advice

I've had a go at turning the wifi on and off. Unfortunately I don't get the chance to forget the network because I can't look at the network settings before it disconnects. I have erased all network preferences and tried to reconnect again, it connects and then disconnects...

I have managed to install Installer.app, but since I can't get wifi to work, it doesn't give me any 'sources' to install hence I can't install anything on it via that...

If there was another way, non wifi to get Term -vt100 on there it'd make life easier
