Though a few of you just getting iPhones would like to see these directions:

Unlock Brand New iPhone 1.1.1 in 10 min without any PC
What you need
1. A Brand New iPhone 1.1.1 or a Revirginized 1.1.1
2. A WiFi Connection
3. This guide

- In the Activate Iphone Screen Scroll so we can get to the dialer pad
- Type: *#307# and press call
- You Phone will Ring Answer it, Note: If you dont get the Answer Screen,Delete *#307#, type 0 and press call
- Press hold
- Your phone will ring again but this time decline the call This will Send you to the Contacts Screen.

- Add a Contact With 2 URLS:
1) prefs://1f
2) http://jailbreakme.com
- Tap preffs://1f this will send u to the settings screen
- Select Your WiFi Connection and leave your phone there for 1 min or 2mins.
- Reboot your phone, if u get the Wi-Fi symbol Go to the next Step, if u don't repeat the procedure until you get Wi-Fi

- Now do the *#307# to get into the contact Screen Again
- Tap your contact, and select the URL2 http://jailbreakme.com

- Thats it! Scroll down, and hit "Install AppSnapp". Safari should disappear, and pop you back to the Home screen. Wait patiently for a minute - don't touch anything til it pops you back to the Slide to Unlock screen. The phone will ring answere but wait the full minute.

- Slide to unlock, and Installer.app will be installed on your iPhone/iPod Touch

- Go to Settings, General and Set Auto Lock to Never

- once jailbroken and activated.
- you can run installer updated it
- Install BSD Sybsystem
- run installer again
- in Sources tap click edit and add http://i.unlock.no
- refresh sources
- Under Unlocking Tools folder, install YouTube Activation
- Under Unlocking Tools folder, install AnySIM
- Restart Phone, check youtube
- Run AnySIM (does not matter wich SIM card in)
- Restart iPhone and Uninstall AnySIm

Well done in about 10 mins

Run iTunes without internet connection hit RESTORE + SHIFT and update with :

iPhone1,1_1.1.1_3A109a_Restore - must be from 10-16-2007 !!!

Could I upgrade via iTunes and still be able to use the TIFF exploit? Or do I need to download a different version of 1.1.1 firmware? If so where can I get it?

Yes TIFF exploit has not been fixed in 1.1.1, so you can do it via iTunes (I did).

I am just reading posts you need FW 1.1.1 prior to oct 16 to use the tiff exploit. By what I read Apple has silently pluged that.

I have been building a file of iPhone stuff, I am sure my copy is prior to the 16th.

@W9cae: I updated from 1.0.2 to 1.1.1 at the beginning of this week, on the 29th October. Downloaded the firmware via iTunes itself. Got a working 1.1.1 iPhone here as a result... though I'm not sure whether I used the TIFF exploit or not because I went with the iNdependence/anySIM method.

TIFF exploit is only for jailbreakme.com? Is that right? (I am assuming so, since it exploits Safari on the iPhone).

What I want to know is ... how do you get wifi access if you haven't told your phone to join a network? Do you have to set up your wifi with no password or security?

I was wondering this too marc, but close inspection reveals;

I am trying to read through all the posts now to confirm if the tiff exploit has been patched also the key pad hack to get into the phone seems misteriously breaking for some also. Folks are sugesting of a silent Apple fix with same tag numbers.

I think so. Not only that, but I think it patches the TIFF exploit when it's finished.

that is correct jailbreakme fixes the tiff exploit when finished. If you need to re-run jailbreakme you have to reflash the FW to get the tiff exploit back.
