Thanx for that Huy. Since my upgrade to FW 1.1.1 I have noticed the info for EDGE does not save. Has anyone figured a way to fix this ? In some ways it does ensure no excessive use but is a pain you have to input after each power on.

Also since the unlock with anySIM 1.1 if you go to your sim in settings it will come back with an error. Before with the bad unlock it used to show info "automatic & roaming carriers"

I didnt check after unlock on 1.0.2 with anySIM 1.1 but I suspect this an issue with the safe unlock.

There is a patch in the unlock source from installer that will fix this

Just install the source as listed in the first post of this thread (the same one where you get AnySIM) and you will see the patch!

I made a post before about the EDGE info not saving. There is a file that you can change that will do it. Or, you can install Services.app and have EDGE turned off, which simply sets the APN to 'DISABLED' (a non-working APN).

But I guess if there's an easier solution out now (which there is), use that

Not run Leopard? Explain please
Are you saying that iTunes 7.5 + Leopard results in something bad for the iPhone?

Opps sorry my mistake I am running Leopard. I was in a rush posting as I had to go over to relatives place.

Yes under installer there is a fix for EDGE. If you have used the appsnapp method it will be listed as software avail from the folks who made anySIM. Took all of 10 seconds to fix.

So if you have a 1.1.1 iPhone/TIFF exploit-patched phone, you must use an older version of the 1.1.1 firmware?

Or can you simply pull it off iTunes like what andrew.wilson did?

If you buy a new 1.1.1 phone you need to somehow get the firmware off iTunes I think, as the new ones are supposedly patched....not sure. The version available on iTunes at the moment seems to work fine...did for me last night anyway

Oh okay. I have a friend who will be getting a 1.1.1 phone, which is (I assume) not patched yet, since the patching only occurs when you download from iTunes (not if it's already un-applied, in the box).

Cheers for that. I'll try out the AppSnapp/jailbreakme solution once he has his phone.

I used FW 1.1.1 from iTunes last night & it worked fine for me. So I think it was more an issue of the strange way the phone does nothing then reboots to do the appsnapp tiff exploit. That had folks thinking it was patched. As once the exploit is used its patched & you cant do again unless you do a FW reflash in iTunes.

That is old news actually...

You can still upgrade to 1.1.1, just not 1.1.2 yet.

I'm another one who wants to express my gratitude to W9cae and report my successful upgrade to 1.1.1.

I'm no techno geek, and I wouldn't normally attempt something like this on my own, but the instructions looked like even I could follow them. I managed to follow the instructions to reviginize my phone. I then upgraded to 1.1.1 direct from iTunes (as others have reported, this worked fine). I then managed to follow through the instructions provided by W9cae at the top of this thread, and bingo! It all worked!

All in all it took me about an hour, most of which was the download from iTunes. The whole time my heart was pounding and a voice in my head was saying, "You're an impatient fool; you'll have an iBrick in the morning and you'll be sorry." But no, I have an even more beautiful iPhone than I had yesterday, and I'm a very happy little vegimite.

Many many thanks, W9cae.

Cheers,
Nathan

Folks no need to pay me thanks. I am just passing on information. There are some folks out in this world who are very brilliant progammers. And they have made some excellent tools for the iPhone. They are the folks who deserve the thanks. I just seek them out & share there information. So all of us with an iPhone can enjoy with full potential.

Cheers Scott
