Just upgraded from 1.02 to 1.11. Thanks heaps for the guide W9cae. Damn things have changed since the hardware unlock days.

I have found one thing that is not working after this unlock: I cannot SSH to my iPhone. I want to do this to change the phone number formatting but I keep getting a connection error. Any suggestions?

Try reinstalling BSD subsystem.
Then installing OpenSSH.

1.1.1. is good...seems louder to me I think and the new shortcuts are handy!

Did you just get your FW 1.1.1 from iTunes tonight or you already had it ?

Straight off iTunes mate Took its sweet time while upgrading...got a bit worried!

I did this now because they are predicting 1.1.2 by the end of the week so make sure you have a copy of 1.1.1 locked away at least!

I here ya I am going to upgrade to 1.1.1 next I just did a restore of 1.0.2 just to check everything is ok. It is so between both of us we can confirm to other mactalk users this very simple process works like a charm.

I have noticed my voice mail button does not wring my voice mail so that code hack did apply to baseband. As it always worked after a restore. Also my youtube is not working but independece can fix that on 1.0.2

Yup...can confirm the entire process works perfectly! The only time I needed a computer was the actual upgrade from 1.0.2 to 1.1.1. Originally I had failed unlock with AnySIM, then unlocked with Unlock.app twice, which the virginizing method fixed perfectly...overall about a 30minute upgrade..maybe more depending how fast your internet is! What took longer was setting up formats again etc. and loading back third party apps. I was surprised to see all settings including EDGE APN were intact in the upgrade and revirginzie process!

On the YouTube note, there is a patch in the unlocking source folder that fixes that perfectly if you are using the web only method...as listed in the original post.

The only thing I havent got working again is ringtones...the old method of sticking them in the Library folder doesnt seem to work, and SendSong hasn't worked for me yet either....oh well I will try tomorrow!

I have been taking the very long way as I too was like you with original unlock issue 2 anysim trys & 1 try with unlock which worked.

Now my phone is re-virgin simply everything I have checked saya its ok & unlocked & working on 1.0.2

So now I will upgrade to 1.1.1 and then do the appsnapp unlock etc

Also a rerun of independence on 1.0.2 fixed youtube

Ok now I have updated to FW 1.1.1 with iTunes from 1.0.2 that was unlocked with anySIM 1.1 and my phone is not a brick & reports correct IMEI & ICCID.

So the next upgrade to 1.1.2 should not brick phones due to baseband issue.

Which I find is great news!

Now off to run this unlock process and give you the scoop from my side.

Ok I have now run the unlock & activate with this new appsnapp method all works perfect. Yes a few bits of the instructions are not perfectly clear.

But I can say this works & you can go back reflash the firmware and run.

Also you will find youtube is activated.

Now for me having an unlocked & activated 1.0.2 with anysim 1.1 I found the upgrade to 1.1.1 kept all my information. I also did a re-flash & wiped the info to see if this still worked correctly.

Yes it does also you will find many useful tools in appsnap.

Just pluged into iTunes after running appsnapp & anysim 1.1 it asked to restore from my last stroe when i was on 1.0.2 or if it made a new store after the upgrade of firmware.

Everything went fine all my data is back just the same.

So as far as I can see this is bullet proof and works.

Steve Job's must be so madd & the Woz is just grinning.

I will fix up the voicemail button tomorrow after the cup.
