iPhone Owners bother with case?

Hey Guys,

Well i just got my iPhone a few days ago and im being very cautious about it being in my pocket etc casue i dont want it to get scratched like my 4g video ipod... that i must say looks like shit lol.... I normally keep everything in prestine condition but my ipod i gave up on cause it scratched so easily...

My question is, do all you owners out there bother? does it even scratch? the screen or the back cover... i mean i would only ever have it in my suit jacket/pants or jeans with nothing else in that same pocket... just the phone.. what are your experiences?

I ordered a Speck TouchSkin, but after i saw what happened to my macbook after having a shell im not using the skin, cause shit gets between it and the phone and its like sandpaper.... anyone using one of these... or anyone using one of those invisible shields? I read somewhere though that if you use an invisible shield and then take it off the back of the iphone again that it takes off the logo and the writting... can anyone confirm this?

All in all... are you using a case... or should i not bother cuase it doesnt scratch...

I don't bother. It has a matte back which is different to the 4G iPod (shiny). I prefer the iPhone without any cases or covers since it feels better in my hand. I only have the phone in my pocket. Probably a tissue, probably paper. But no keys or anything

Just wipe it down at the end of the day (cloth included), and polish that Apple logo on the back

Agreed about the slipperiness. I dropped the iPhone onto a concrete footpath, after taking it out of my pocket it just slipped out. Cosmetically, I wouldn't bother with a case, the phone will take on a bit of character, but its extremely resilient. I'm only worried about smashing the screen, but all the cases I've seen take away from the experience of holding but using the phone.

I was going to buy a case for it...but I got lazy and now I am starting to think I dont need it. I never put anything else next to it in a pocket or whatever.

I suppose I would probably feel safer knowing it was protected...but its not a priority for me at the moment.

I had a rather undignified fall last Monday, and my iPhone skittered across the pavement, scratching the back *and* the screen. Fortunately the scratches don't interfere with the function... I was waiting for my Invisible Shield to arrive (they have reshipped and its at the P.O. now, a bit late to save my iPhone alas).

What am I saying? Get some kind of protection.

Apple would have designed a case if it needed one.

Scratches are part of the life cycle, embrace them.

That thing is just too damned slippery, and so I've ordered an Xtrememac Tuffwrap for mine after seeing a review last week somewhere. Should arrive this week.

But I'm wonndering if it'll get used any more than the similar protection I got for my very first iPod. Good protection, but getting the iPod into its dock meant having to take the thing in and out of its cover all the time. After a few months I just couldn't be bothered....

I ended up getting a crystal case - from ebay and ordered a nice leather one from Singapore.

I got the Screen protector from Phone JUnkie in Brisbane.

Otherwise - its all good.

I have a foofpod for it because I'm too paranoid to have it loose in my pocket with keys - I have ordered an invisible shield but it hasn't shipped yet so not expecting it anytime soon

It slipped out of my pocket in the car, and out of my hands at subway bouncing on the table and almost to the floor (caught it!)- not a pleasant experience for a 2 day old iPhone!

Got a 'sock' and used it for 2 days but I hated taking it in and out.

Then this weekend bought a screen protector (doesn't smudge) and silicon case.

Doesn't look so brilliant but its safe for day to day use.

On the weekend it'll roam around 'naked'.

I've been really impressed with the hardiness of my iPhone, i throw mine in my pocket with keys, coins, e.t.c. the metal case has a few light scratches, but the glass hasn't got a mark on it.

It was. But the bruising of my dignity was far worse than the bruising of my bod or the phone, trust me! Middleaged women coming a big buster in public is just NOT a good look.

Just got a macally sleeve from the States - nice.
Thin leather, partly open a one side and top (allows earphones to be used), snug fit for phone, and all still thin and tight enough to fit in shirt pocket without noticible bulges.
Has the sme kind of tactile niceness that the phone has.
Got it through ebay, took about a week
