Dead iPhone camera!

Howdy Brains Trust,

Hoping someone can help me with an iPhone issue. [Running an iPhone with the 1.0.2 jailbreak and telstra SIM].

After a couple of weeks of everything working fine, my camera carked it.

Taking a photo in low light and it gave a green fuzzy / corrupt file looking photo/file (which i stupidly deleted). Now the camera doesn't work anymore on my iPhone - arrrgh.

When I go to camera function, the screen is totally black, and the 'take photo' icon doesn't respond (ie it doesn't take black photos).

The back to the photo album works, and I can view phots already taken - but it seems the camera is cactus.

I have drained the battery down - left off overnight - and recharged - no luck.
I have turned off - left overnight - no luck.

So any suggestions?

Should I attempt a restore? Is this safe on a jailbreak phone?? Does anyone have a step by step process on this?

Any help appriecated!

There's nothing unsafe about restoring a 1.0.2 phone, unless you let iTunes update you to 1.1.1 which will cause issues.

Just as a point on interest, when a CCD on a digital camera (like an IXUS or something) dies, the last thing it often does is leave behind a green fuzzy, corrupt looking file.

Hopefully your issue is something that can be fixed with a software/firmware restore.

I think I'm gunna cry.....

So - in regards to doing a restore of 1.0.2 - will I have to start again and re-jailbreak after the restore?

Thx

Yup..just make sure to save yourself dramas, that when you click restore, you hold the option key and point iTunes to where the 1.0.2 firmware is stored
