I haven't got bluetooth, but am happy to report that it works perfectly with my Alpine CDA-9883. It controls all iPod functions from the head unit, but has not calling functionality.

Mine works fine using my car's onboard bluetooth (BMW) including full address book transfer to the dashboard, and voice activated dialing (done by the car's bluetooth kit).
Also, if i have it plugged into the IPOD dock connector in the glove compartment, I get full IPOD control / track names etc through the radio display.

It would be good to have confirmation of which car kits work. I can't use my iphone with my MIO c520 GPS, which worked beautifully with my Nokia 6131... darnit.

My HCB-300 SE works good. Although I have noticed the ocassional bluetooth disconnect midway through a call.

Interesting. I would like to know if my newly purchased JVC KD-PDR35 stereo system would work with the iPod..Google doesn't tlel me and I'm wondering if I should just return it to JB without wasting time installing it. Sigh!

I think you need more practice googling... here's the JVC page for the model you've got.
If you meant iPhone instead of iPod, I reckon it would probably work...if nothing else, you can connect it to the Aux in on the front.

Sorry, I meant iPhone I *did* do a Google last night and found some stuff. There seems to be a 50/50 chance it'll work, some people say it will only charge and not play audio, others say it will say "this is not an iPhone accessory" but let you continue and work fine, others say various stereos make the iPhone complain with that message and doesn't let you play music. The JVCs appear to fall into the third category from what I've read of a similar model.
Guess I'll have to wait and see if JVC support replies.

My 3 year old pioneer headunit with ipod control unit give me the "this is not an iPhone accessory" message after which it functions fine and I can control the Iphone from the head unit.

does anybody know of a compatible FM transmitter that doesn't squeal and make noise when the iphone is connecting to the telecoms network.
my current one needs to have the iphone in aircraft mode before using it. its a pain, would like to use it as a handsfree as well.

If you got it from JB, see if they've got one on display that you could hook the cable up to try it with your iPhone That's one way to test it properly. I'm actually in the market for something simillar, but I'm going to use the AUX in on the front panel and just use my iPod touch in the window mount cradle I've already got set up for it. It's just behind the steering wheel, so it's literally a strech of the finger to pause/play when the phone rings. I'm thinking of using the same set up when I eventually get an iPhone.
