[Merged] iPhone with Three Sim Card
Hi everyone, I know it has been mentioned for a lot of times but I still wish to find out about this problem and hopefully a solution to it as well.
Why doesn't iPhone work with Three's sim card? I have tried putting Three sim card into my Nokia 2G phone and it worked (although roaming all the time), so in theory iPhone should also work.
Thanks.

It's a pretty new one (got it start of this year), how old does the sim card need to be for it to work? The other question is what is the difference between the "old" Three sim and "new" Three sim?

you must have an older 3 sim card. The new ones have been blocked from working in a 2G phone. Count yourself lucky, it should work for you,but hold onto that SIM like it's gold cos if you lose it, your new one won't work.

The difference is that the new SIMs query the network bands in the phone, if it doesn't find the UMTS2100 band in there (doesn't need to be active, just there), it switches the SIM off.

Can I work around this by copying the Sim using TurboSim or SuperSim method? I would really like to continue using my current number and avoid changing over to a new number just for iPhone.

It may work, but my same warning about SuperSIM goes out - you're in a legal gray-area, so be careful

I don't think WoronScan or the other apps that detect the Ki's of SIM cards for the Super/TurboSIM methods are able to do so for non v1 SIM cards.
But if you're really that desperate to get it to work, give it a go - I reckon you may as well just jump ship instead. You don't have to lose your old phone number when you switch to a new carrier.
Let us know what happens.

copy won't work because it's not a V1 sim, excocet is right with the sim querying the phone too.
It's nothing to do with it being a USIM, because my USIMs work perfectly in the iPhone.
You can port your number to another provider.

Please no more talk of 3 sim in iPhone. It just will not work wrong technology. Enjoy your 3 sim in your 3 phone and your iPhone on any of the other GSM networks.

Agreed, we need a big red sticky stating that 3 USIMS WILL NOT WORK
Honestly, he saw it plastered around and yet he still asked the same question.

I know this has been mentioned a lot of times but since there is no solution i thought it might be worthwhile to discuss on it and maybe people have came up with a solution.
You said copy won't work because it's not a V1 sim but Bladox's Turbo sim is claimed to work on v1/v2/v3/2g/3g sim card. Has anyone actually used the TurboSIM method with Three sim card? I am hoping we can get this verified. Thanks.

The turboSIM won't work, the turboSIM is there to tell the phone you're using an ATT card, the 3G USIM queries the handset - not the other way around.
You may be able to program the turboSIM to lie to your sim card, but i'm not sure.

Yea, i don't think we can program the TurboSIM to fake UTMS functionalities to the USIM.
But can we program iPhone to fake UTMS functionalities to the sim? Does anyone know how this USIM phone query protocol actually works? Hopefully we might be able to do something about that...
