iphone - Couple of questions if I may
I spent most of last night reading through threads on the Iphone so hopefully these questions are new / specific to me:
I plan to buy a iphone today from http://www.voitech.com.au im going to go for the locked 8GB and then plan to unlock with one of the software unlocks
Questions are:
1. Does the iphone support activesync
2. There seems to be a bunch of software unlocks, which is recommended by you guys as the simplests / easiest / most reliable
3. I can use GPRS (Vodafone Aus) cant I?
4. I have Surepage, will I have any problems receiving these SMS's
Anything else / advice welcomed
Cheers

1: Not as far as I'm aware - it doesn't support iSync either.
2: AnySIM is supposed to be easy, but sometimes fails - all you need to do if this is the case is reboot and insert your sim.
3: Yep
4: What is surepage?

CALLscreen.
CALLscreen combines an answering service with a personal assistant. Our professional operator answers the call, takes a message and sends it to your mobile. You'll receive the message as a standard text message displayed on-screen. It's a great way of keeping you in touch without saying a word.

Why ActiveSync? I suppose you are looking at Blackberry to wirelessly sync with Outlook / Exchange data?
You probably already know, but iTunes will sync your calendar / contacts / email to the iPhone - just not wirelessly.

It should work fine. Especially considering the description says "standard text message".

Yeah my question as well - why do you need activesync? Are you sure you don't mean exchange server support?
Activesync is the software microsoft use for syncing windows mobile pdas with a windows PC. TO my knowledge there is no other purpose for activesync.
Exchange server support allows the device to get corporate email/calendar/contacts from outlook. Most commonyl this is used to sync office email/contacts/calendar info to a mobile device.
If you are after the latter, the iPhone *does* sync with exchange server, but does not do direct push (but oyu can set it to 'autocheck" every 15/30/60 minutes). However you need to make sure that your company/IT staff have enabled web (OTA) access for the exchange server.
