The best thing about a mid-year launch for Apple is that a lot of people will be getting tax returns. I know mine is gonna be pretty big this year, although all my spare cash is going into saving for a trip next year so purchasing an iPhone seems unlikely.

I sold my iPhone 8GB to cover some of the cost of the new 3G one...so the cost won't seem so bad to myself.
I am curious about the larger iPhone rumor. Will anyone here buy a larger one over the current size (assuming that the 3G one is a similar size to the current model)?
Also, someone at my work told me that the "iPod Phone" was advertised in a large spread in today's Green Guide as being $890 with free gift. You could register on the Internet. I am not putting much weight behind it for 2 reasons.....1) Who ever calls the iPhone the "iPod Phone" and 2) If it was true then Mactalk would surely have heard about it by now. *sigh*

I'm not sure what I would do... I don't know if I would use it as a music player and just keep my iPod too... because I never keep the iPod in my pocket (and I would keep the iPhone in my pocket) so it will always be in my bag and not causing any extra weight to carry around. I think I would go with the cheapest option and get the smallest one.

There is an ad in the Green Guide - page 12 - it reads "Apple iPhone $890 + free gift" from Data-mart. Looks like someone desperately trying to offload some soon to be obsolete 2G iPhones, at a profit that verges on gouging...

The computers might be the case (or user error ie: staff entered the wrong things), but flip that coin over. You received an extra $700. Also thank god Centrelink isn't a bank, otherwise there'd be interest and fees on top of that amount aswell.

plus, while that sucks when they come after you for money cos of their error they actually are quite nice when it comes to repayment plans and stuff, you don't need to pay in a lump sum or anything

Well yeah, it's either a new iPhone or a small tablet.
An iPhone that is 1.5x bigger wouldn't be that cool, it's big enough as it is in my opinion.
Getting much bigger you most well use your mac.. I still want it to be a phone with the features of a computer not a small laptop for my pocket.

I think it's probably going to be this sort of a number
Nokia Europe - Nokia 770 - Products
only, touch not stylus, 3g not just wifi, and probably generally better. Still I don't know if this whole UMPC tablet market is that big currently... of course apple has a way of changing how people spend money, so who knows

Funny, back when "iPhone" was just the rumoured name I thought they should have called it iPod mobile, because I always thought the name "iPod" should imply more than just music.
Even now I think it should be iMobile (or Mobile Me), because it's so much more than a phone.

iPad and iTampon? *cringe*
Sorry, guys.
Back on topic, I would love to see Apple's response to Microsoft's Surface (which is actually pretty nuts, IMHO)
