Surely the other networks will be quick to follow with announcements. They wouldn't want the public to think that Vodafone has exclusivity.

Anthony's original posting of expected events (not surprisingly) is panning out just as thought.

+1 for the "not exclusive" thought.

Interesting to see who apple likes and organises visual voicemail with.

Excellent. So I really want to know about plans. Are Vodafone any good for data?

At the moment Vodafone goes on timed usage, not data usage. The cap plan I was on was $1 for 5min. But I imagine they'll have to change that for the iPhone. I don't know what they do for the blackberry and other always connected phones but when I asked Vodafone if they had any data plans that went on usage they said they didn't.

I am glad to see Anthony getting the last laugh in regards to his original info seeming to pan out. Where are all the doubters/haters now...?

My guess would be finding a cloth to wipe the egg of their faces.

For me this is now a fight over phone price and plans. I want only about $20 talk, but I want good data/email speed/cap if I can get it. I dont want ridiculous excess usage costs or expensive low caps.

I just checked out vodafone and their data/email costs look $$$$

I'l give it two

I'm currently on Telstra 3G with work, so I'm more interested in an outright price for it. Hopefully more press releases to come in the next few weeks..

I'm currently on the Voda $49 cap, but I'm locked in until June next year, so I'm hoping I can go into Vodafone, pay out the remainder of my phone repayments, and jump onto an iPhone plan!

I just looked at Vodafone's website about Blackberry pricing, and found on this page that you get 1 MB of emails for $30 (stupidly expensive) or unlimited* emails for $50... however they link to this page if you want internet access with your blackberry, with regular rates quite expensive, but 5GB for $39 a month looks very good (although not a phone offer). I'm sure the iPhone will have plans that include a reasonable amount of data.

What does this mean for a June/July 3G release? If its exclusive to Vodafone then we'd have to wait until the end of the year!.. geez.

Pfffft.....they won't be the only ones to get it, not a chance.

It just means they will be allowed to sell it on their network here. I am guessing although it will be pretty much open to all carriers, Apple don't want idiots like Dodo Mobile offering deals on it, so you need Apple's permission to be a carrier to is officially supported and can be subsidised on an iPhone specific plan etc. That is all this means.

Wonder how much the markup here will be, despite our strong dollar.

The interesting thing now will be to see whether Apple keeps the iphone for themselves for a little while. I know if stock was limited, Australia has been hanging out for the iphone and i was opening my own store (George Street) then I would be selling it exclusively at my store for a couple of weeks before filtering it out to partners.

I might have missed it cause there are so many pages of threads here, but isn't 3 HSPDA as well, my updated 3 phone has the symbol for it on it and our 3 dongles definitely run on it. I would be surprised if 3 don't get it here as they tend to get more models of phones than most other carriers, and usually exclusive models for a time.
