What do we think? Look reasonably genuine?

Another empty case.... See here for the explanation of these;
WWDC08 Keynote Preview
In short, that's the shape of the new iPhone, but not the new iPhone.

is anyone else getting nervous by the lack of noise from 3? if they don't drop some sort of plan, with 1gb+ quotas, my needs probably won't be met at all :S

I think at this point it's pretty safe to say 3 will not be an official carrier. The theory that they weren't allowed to announce anything because they are 3G only has been blown out of the water by announcements by 3G only carriers in other countries.
Although you could just unlock the phone and use the phone on 3.

/start rant
your needs I would be very surprised if you need 1 Gb of data on your phone even the people in the states on AT&T on avg use between 200-500 mb and they class them selves as heavy uses. Its not as if you are going to be able to download torrents or share files etc. Yes you can youtube and get other videos or music but it is still more economical to just download it using normal means of adsl/adsl 2+ / cable or vdsl for that kind of content. It still takes if you have a fast connection about 10 mins to download 1 GB I would hate to think what the costs would be for over limits which at the moment we are forced to pay not that the telcos could change it because they could. With the money they save on outsorcing and return on investment and business customers they could lower their prices and increase their limits if they wanted to so easy. But why dont they, its easy competition and I dont mean telstra bashing either although their control of the network which was handed to them and all they have done is expanded their mob networks and dslams, while the other telcos have to raise capital and then fight for space etc.. you guys know the picture... and even though it is getting better (and one can only hope that one telstra dosnt get a distribution contract with apple although this wont stop unlocking, ) it is the case of the little guy struggling and the big guy stomping And I can only hope that the 4.7 billion coming from my pension fund (thats right defence members get screwed again for the greater good thanks labour) gets spent on the right bidder and causes all internet pricing to come down with bigger downloads
/end rant

You're forgetting the current iPhone is EDGE. Give the phone Cable Speeds and people will download a lot more, it's actually feasible to watch video and use maps heavily on a 3G iPhone.

Yes but you wouldnt really download a 45min tv show from itunes which is a 500mb file or a movie for that matter which would be larger, for today it just isnt that feasible and the expierence would suck but I could understand streaming instead that would make more sense but not download through the air with the high risk of lost connections and what not

What about YouTube? A 10 minute youtube video is 25mb. A 'heavy user' would watch that maybe once every two days, that's around 350mb right there. That's a heavy user, not an average user. Browsing image heavy websites could use a fair bit of usage, some Maps usage (especially if it has GPS) and some email could get you over 500mb pretty quickly, Three is the only carrier that offers that for a decent price.
