Iomega Usb Mini Max Hard Disk Not Detected Imenus

Hello All,

For some reason iMenu or iStats does not pickup the temperature of the Iomega Mini Max hard disk?

Anyone know how I can monitor the temperature of it?

Cheers,

Rob

Off the top of my head, you can't get temps off of USB or Firewire HDs. Doing so just isn't supported by the chips in external cases.

Ok, thanks for the reply. I did notice in disk utility it comes up SMART Disabled. Could that be because of what your are saying?

Cheers,

That's right. I'm not sure of the technicalities, but I don't recall ever being able to get SMART data from my external HDs.

Yep thats right. Apple dont support SMART on usb or firewire drives. Drive temperatures also come from SMART so until apple fix it (unlikely) then we cant support them
