Ok earlier today I found a post on Whirlpool linking to this post. iPhone 3.1.2 custom firmware (+screenshots) (+ custom for off 3G!) - GSM-Forum

I have lost track on Whirlpool with all the chatter of jailbreak & this thread hasnt really had much following.

I have downloaded the custom firmware for my first gen. But I have just discovered a totally flat battery. So that iPhone is on charge now. I am not sure if this firmware will work but thought others might want a look until something else comes.

Ok I have found these posts linking to the same firmware saying they do work for first gen. iPhone 3.1.2 custom firmware HERE - SiNfuL iPhone

Maybe someone here speaks Indonesian ? As this link has a much larger thread taking about the same firmware. OS 3.1.2 CUSTOM Firmware - Mac Club Indonesia : Macintosh - Ipod - Iphone

Update I have installed the said firmware mentioned above. My first gen iPhone runs like a champ on 3.1.2 fully hactivated. I have one of my push apps running so it will be interesting if this now works. The splash screens are the stock standard Apple ones. Not sure how this firmware build was made, but it does work as described.

I am in over joy push & locate me is working on my first gen iPhone. This is the first time since 3.0 everything has worked correctly. I really wish I knew who made this firmware & how they did such. Seeing DEV team have not been able too.

The new update didn't fix my phones going to sleep and not waking up problem although that's what this update is claimed to fix.

Well this sucks. I upgraded my first gen phone as I have usually done for ever previous upgrade, but this time it didn't carry across the activation and refuses to install a non-genuine firmware. I'm kinda stuck at the moment. No phone. No nothing. This definitely sucks.
