For all of you with preformance/glitches, do a restore and set up your phone as a new phone - ie, DO NOT restore from a backup.
I've heard that restoring and setting up as a new phone resolves most people's issues - especially if you've upgraded/restored from a 2.2.1 (jailbroken or not) backup. I'll consider doing this myself, but my Peggle replays are worth saving. They're THAT good

I updated my iPhone 3G after the app store informed me I couldn't dowload an app until I had it, but now all of my applications have gone, except about 4! I wiped all me apps off in iTunes, then tried reinstalling them all but although itunes says it worked, I only have 4 apps and the pictures don't match the names. I have also restored to factory settings and that didnt work. what's going on, and how do I get my apps back?
Before moving to 3.0 software I did have it jailbroken. I had the app 'categories' and I was stupid enough to put my settings app inside one. Now after updating obviously it isnt jailbroken any more but everything that was in a category is gone, including the setting app. I have been informed I need to go into settings to get it back to normal. But I dont have a settings app anymore!! What can I do?! |

this is not really a problem but a weird scenario
With the iphone paired by bluetooth to my car, when I play back a voice memo my car connects to the phone and thinks it is on a call. You can't hear the voice memo through the car audio though - just silence. |

I didn't have any problems updating my old 3G with the 3.0 software. Loved the new features and didn't notice a change in battery life.

If you have problems just install the SSL certificate again, but you should be fine. You can get hold of the SSL certificate by logging into OWA from a web browser and accepting the certificate, then go to either Keychain in Mac to export the cert to a file, or install IIS on Windows and go into the Certificate Store there to export the cert. Easiest way is just to get your in-laws IT administrator to email the cert to a gmail account or something, set up gmail on the iphone, open the attachment and install to the iphone.
It's no big deal |

Thanks, i'm assuming it will be ok as all other firmware updates haven't broken it. They have a small business(running SBS) and they just have a dodgy admin guy that only comes when there is a problem, and is tough to get anything from, so am just trying to avoid having to deal with him. Worst case i could restoer from backup.

Anyone having battery issues. When my 3GS arrived I though my 2g 3.0 battery issues would be gone, but my battery just went totally dead from 100% while I was asleep.
After seeing something about a 3rd party chatting app causing battery issues I have started to think that it might be one of my apps, but no idea which one. Does anyone know of any suspected battery draining apps? |

This was happening to me too, turned out my wireless access point at home was dying. Switching off wifi before bed saved me a heap of battery.

When someone sends me an MMS i receive it fine, but it doesnt go into their message history, it creates a new history with their number, it doesnt recognise their existing entry in my phone book or existing message history (so it just shows their number, and doesnt marry up with their name etc....)
Is anyone else getting this? I've tried both 04xx xxx xxx and +614 xxx xxx and it still happens. What to do? I'd like to keep the same history... |
