Default Fring: IM chat client now on App Store

So I managed to grab a copy of this app (free by the way folks) and will give it a test run, but yeah it's available on the US app store (so if you have a free account made go and get it), and is meant to work with multiple protocols nicely, according to a friend of mine who uses it on her windows mobile..

Awesome app. Have been using it for 30 minutes and love every bit of it. The kind-of-painful part is having to set up a Fring account even if you just want to use Skype.

Woohoot!

Been looking for a skype app for the iPhone App since it first came out in July.

Double Woohoot!

Finally starting to become the essential device.

Grab it now just in case it doesn't hang around! (You never know with some of these apps!)

I had a similar problem - but setting up as a new user.

It wouldn't accept my gmail or .me email address' - same error as you. But it accepted my internode email. Strange.

Does anyone else get a 5+ second lag between people talking on VOIP calls? I get a lot of echoing as well...

Conspiracy theory for shits and giggles:

The original Fring app on a jailbroken First Gen Jebus was the first application to crack background processing. Thats what made it so awesome.

Of course, this new fring app has to be legitimate for the App store, so it doesnt do that - but, the day before its released a crack for background processes is released for Jailbreak phones!

ZOMG - it was them... Digg this post!

Great app.
Just need earphones (with remote + mic).
And I can skype from my iPod Touch.

This would be great for iPod if I had wifi everywhere!
