Unhappy Screen Dead? Phone rings, iTunes recognises phone but cannot use!

Hey guys!

Sorry if this is a known problem but I couldn't see anything at quick glance...

A couple of hours ago, my iPhone rang but the screen didn't come to life and I couldn't answer it. Once it rang out, the screen returned to normal briefly but not long enough to access any features.

Unable to turn the screen on, I called the phone from the landline and the screen did come on long enough for me to see there was definitely plenty of battery left, so that wasn't the problem.

I plugged the phone into the laptop and iTunes recognised it but - again - the screen remained dead until I pressed Sync, at which time it came on as normal and remained on as it synced.

Once sync completed, the screen disappeared again and could not be turned on.

Does anybody know what the hell's going on? Has anyone else experienced the same problem? And, more to the point, is this something I approach Optus or Apple about?

I'm beginning to hear of quite a few faults popping up with friends' iPhones this week. Coincidence or what...?

Cheers,
Kane

Cheers...

After calming down for a second, I realised how to reset (on/off and home buttons at the same time for 10 seconds... d'uh) and it seems to be working fine. After a friend had to send his off for repairs recently, I think I just assumed the worst and lost my common sense. Still... I hope this isn't a sign of things to come.
