My daughter is overseas at the moment and appears to have changed the region code on the drive in her iBook the maximum number of times.

Is there any way the drive can be reset?

Once it has been changed the maximum number of times, only the drive manufacturer can reset it.

Her best bet now is to use a regionless player like VLC, as it uses some dodgy techniques to ignore the region setting of the drive entirely. Had she been using this all along she would not have used up any of her region changes.

you can try this... not sure if it will work though... http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/13801 beacuse the drive you have isnt a 3rd party one

also, you could try to flash your DVD drives firmware to allow all region playback (this will void your apple warrenty) if you can find your Drives model here, i think your in luck... http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_all.php#M
