Hi Everyone,

I recently switched from dial up to broadband and i'm having problems with my internet connection.

I have a dlink504t with my airport express (itunes) connected to it, then wireless to my g4 powerbook and use tpg.

I have only had this setup for two weeks and i'm finding that every 2 or so days when i open up the powerbook and select my mail, i cant connect to the internet. I open up my airport assistent and it says that i have 'green' lights for the airport connection, my isp but can't get to the internet.

I can usually get the connection back by playing around with the network settings but find that it has the same problem a few days later.

I am using DHCP and allowign addressing to happen automatically (i'm not very network orientated so sorry for the lack of technical detail).

The only thing that i can think of (which may be a coincidence) is that this has only ever happened when i have opened up mail and hit 'get mail' and never after just opening safari. Strange!

But this is really fustrating me cause it shouldn't just stop working.

Anyone have any ideas?

Before someone who can be bothered with all the networking crap comes along and answers this properly, I'll suggest this:

Here's a NEVERFAIL way of getting the internet to work over wirelessly routed broadband connections:

1. Open Safari
2. Type http://www.smh.com.au
3. Hit return
4. Internet

No joke. It works for me everytime. Even when unwired (who I foolishly chose) are expeirencing "5 minutes downtime" (ie: 2 weeks).

Just to add more info, i have found that when looking under my adsl settings (TPG provide the ability to log onto your account and veiw information such as adsl settigns) and it says that the modem/router is configured as:

Dynamic IP (PPP Authentification) : Modem in Bridged Mode . PPPoE

What does that mean for me setting up my airport express?
