Hey Guys

As title says, i am getting a dirty disc error when ever any of the games has to load from the disc. Its annoying the hell outa me so i looked further into the problem (google helps! ) anyway i found out that my xbox has a Thompson DVD drive and these are not the best of things. Is there a place in perth where i might be able to score a replacement drive for my xbox. Preferably the Samsung one.

Thanks
Roto

I have a spare one I can send you. I am not quite sure if it works, but its all yours if you want to pay postage on it.

I think its a thompson or a phillips, not a samsung unfortunately.

PM me if you are interested.

Have you tried a laser-cleaning kit? Your local Video Ezy (or similar) would have them.

Talking

Kit: Sorry to say that i have tried this several times, then when reading up on this, i saw that the Thompson's Laser Assembly is very prone to Dirty Disc Errors

Yeppers, sure is. That and the philips...

If i were to get another xbox, I would make sure they open it for me in the shop and let me at least see the disc tray. You can spot a samsung a mile away due to all the holes in the tray, and they are the ones you want.

I got soooo lucky with my current box, my oldie was a philips and I am glad I got rid of that one before it started having problems.
