Use about this mac, to confirm the model of your superdrive, then do a google on the model number along with some key words like region free etc.

You should find some links. I remembering finding some patched firmware for my superdrive.

Although risks associated with doing this is, if you bugger the superdrive it wont be covered by warranty if found to be a firmware issue by you doing this. And as stated you could render the drive useless.

Would a program like "Mac The Ripper" help?, it allows you to copy DVD's as multi region or region specific.

For arguments sake copy a Region 4 DVD as Region 1 so it plays on your Superdriver, at least you don't risk screwing up the drive.

Regards

Mark

I recently read somewhere that besides the 4 resets before locking on a region, you could take it into an Apple Service Centre as they can reset it and they will do this up to five times also. I unfortunately forget if this referred to Australia or the US, but it wouldn't hurt to give them a call.

I doubt it.

In answer to the question about the best place to get a region-free firmware, I've found a Google search to be very helpful. Use the info about your drive and its firmware from the System Profiler.
