Suggestions for my backups
Hi all,
I bought a new external HDD today to use for an offsite backup and need a suggestion for the best way to do it.
I have:
A ibook G4 running 10.4.11
A Firewire External 320GB HDD
A USB 2.0 External 500GB HDD (this is the new one)
Currently the Firewire 320GB HDD is partitioned into an 80GB and a 240GB partition.
I use Carbon Copy Cloner to back up the ibook internal hard drive to the 80GB partition.
The 240GB partition has my iPhoto library (the important thing for offsite backup) and my other media files.
My original thought was to use Carbon Copy Cloner to clone the ibook hard drive and the 240GB partition onto the 500GB drive once a month. But I only just found out that I can't boot from a USB drive on my PPC ibook. Wouldn't have changed my purchase anyway because I am hoping to get a new mac in the next 12 months.
Is it worth using Carbon Copy Cloner to a USB drive that I then can't use to boot up the ibook, remembering this is my offsite backup, not my primary backup?
Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
