All HDMI cables are the same. There is no such thing as loss in quality or better quality from one cable or another. They are all the SAME!

Yeah, you need a platinum one. They're the best on a dollar to performance ratio. You got fleeced.

A $20 cable will do the job. Unless the connector actually falls apart. Whatever you have should be fine. Good gold connectors are nice to have, but not necessary.

Now, this is where I'd like to easily be able to see the number of posts/join date of a poster...

Is this guy a newbie, and thus - should be afforded some kid gloves - or is it a long termer who's used to being bludgened to death by MacTalker's wit and charm...

panda-dude-with-NZ-sounding-name, what the nice people are trying to tell you is, unless you've shelled out many many thousands of dollars on a massively expensive home theatre set-up, buying an expensive cable is really quite pointless.

As others have said, HDMI is a digital cable. There is no 90%, no 10%, no interference, no static.

You either get a signal, or you don't.

If you get a signal, you've got the best image and sound you can ever get over an HDMI cable, such is the nature of digital cables.
