Recommend a Modem/Router for HD Streaming

Any advice for one of these new N type dual band modem/routers for wireless streaming of hd content?

I have an old D-Link ADSL 2 modem but would prefer to have an all in one modem/router - one less device and plug required.

Anyone got one of these devices?

I have a 7402NX.

The wireless is ok, but it's not good enough for H264 1080p stuff. I haven't got any 720p content to try, but I'd imagine that'd be better. These are highly compressed videos though (not the stuff you get off iTunes) so the bitrates are huge. (12GB for a 2 hours and 40 minutes for example).

I have no problems over the GigE switch in the 7402NX though. I peak at about 35MB/s read with Jumbo frames with the switch off a ReadyNAS NV+.

Oh and the wireless on all the N models from Billion are only single band 2.4GHz. Not 2.4 and 5GHz. The only routers that support 2 bands are the Apple Aiport Extremes and a particular Linksys mode. I also think that the Linksys is the only one that can use both bands simultaneously.

I have the AEBS ('n' variety) - used for wireless and ethernet. Used in bridge mode in conjunction with a netcomm modem/router (b/g variety). It works and no issues since I got it.

I still have yet tto get a new modem/router - I am using the Dlink 604T which is very flaky as the local area has become crowded with wireless signals not to mention the network dies when someone uses the microwave.

So still unsure what to get:

Airport Extreme?,
Linksys WRT610N Simultaneous Dual-N Band Wireless Router
D-Link Xtreme N Dual Band Gigabit router DIR-825
D-Link DGL-4500 Xtreme Gaming Router (5.0Ghz)

I need best wireless streaming rate with least interference from external sources.
Distance isnt a problem as I am in a small house.

Any other suggestions or experience?

I have the Airport Extreme N, with an Apple TV & PS3 and it streams HD beautifully. You do need to make some tweaks from the factory settings to get the most out of it. My Network Information is now reporting 300mbps.

Thanks for the reply - I tend to trust apple more than dlink after a few duds in the past.

Whats sort of ADSL modem are you using - just trying to work out how a separate router connects to the modem- I assume its to one of the lan ports - i better check the speed of these if that is the case.

mm my modem has 10/100 ports - would i be best getting a new adsl modem too with gigabit ethernet ports? ie will the 10/100 be a bottle neck?
Then that leaves me with more choices again - new modem and seperate router or combo modem/router.

Remember your ADSL connection will only be 20Mbps max so there's no point getting a model with gigabit ethernet, 100Mbps will be just fine.

I have mine connected to a Voip Netgear ADSL router, that's running a backwards compatible b/n network and my Airport Extreme is running an N only network for high speed.

Thanks for your help - airport extreme n looks like the way to go and is much better value than the D-Link Xtreme N Duo Media Router (DIR-85.
