PCI USB card not working

I put in a StarTech PCI USB 2 card in my Power Mac G4 MDD with OS 10.5.5 installed and it is detecting it in system profiler but when I connect up a USB device nothing works.

I've had a look on the makers web site and it says Plug N Play from OS X upwards but no mac drivers only windows.

StarTech.com - Low Profile 2 Port USB 2.0 PCI Card

As I'm a new mac user I mite be doing something wrong help needed.

There is the possibility that it only works with Intel Macs. I suggest you return it and buy something we know works, like a Belkin USB 2.0 card.

Yeah, same thing happened with me. They will accept some cards but not others.

Edit: Should of read your post, it you say that it is compatible with Mac.

I Had it given to me by a friend ages ago but I've never had a need for it because my PC had 4 USB 2 ports in it and I thought Id stick it in the MAC, Dont understand why my son's Power Mac G4 400 sawtooth has USB 2 and my later version Mac has USB 1.1, Very strange that.

Anyway guess I'll just have to get by with USB 1.1

The G4 400 sawtooth must have a USB2 PCI card added. They sure don't have USB2 on board otherwise.

+1 for Brains comment about Belkin. Their USB2 PCI cards use the NEC chipset and work without any additional drivers in Macs.
