Airport Express as a bridge

Hi guys, I was just wondering with the airport express, can it be used to connect a wired network (e.g. downstairs tivo, ps3, xbox) to a wireless network (e.g. upstairs airport extreme)?
So downstairs would be a wired hub, then connect this to the single express ethernet port. And at the same time still allow the express to work for streaming airtunes? Or does the express port only take on device at a time?

The ethernet port on the express only works if you have WDS enabled. See Airport Express Bridge Mode - Your Questions Answered

Interesting, I don't have WDS enabled, yet my APX works fine in bridge mode, however its the only base station on my network...you'll probably need WDS enabled on yours since you're also using an Extreme.

No, it does *not* need to operate in WDS mode for the bridge to be active, at least for the Early 2008 Pre-'n' AirPort Expresses (running latest firmware)

Mine doesn't offer that as an option (it's a 'g' model, a couple of years old).

Ok I can now confirm that the ethernet port works while using airtunes on the n version
However I dont have a spare wired hub to connect to the AX as yet to test that functionality out

this is why I stopped using mine years ago.

I might have to look back into getting one if thats the case and it can be used as a bridge now without a compatible router (I had and still have a netgear router).
